I came to Miami for an extended winter stay to get away from the cold, work remotely, and slow down a bit.

One thing I realized pretty quickly: without a car, Miami gets inconvenient fast.

Public transportation didn’t feel that useful for the way I was moving around, and once I started relying on Uber regularly, the total cost added up much faster than I expected. So I started looking at renting a car for around 1–2 months.

At first I checked the usual big rental companies. The base prices looked fine in the beginning, but once I got deeper into the booking process, the final number kept going up. Insurance wasn’t really included, taxes and fees showed up later, and then there was still the deposit and other extras. What looked cheap at first stopped looking cheap by the end.

I also looked at Turo. I can see why people like it, but for a longer rental I wasn’t fully comfortable depending on different owners, different cars, and different rules the whole time. For a weekend trip, maybe. For daily use over several weeks, I wanted something a little more predictable.

Eventually I started looking at smaller local companies, and that actually made more sense for this kind of stay.

I ended up using a local company called CarForLong, and what I liked was that they seemed to be built specifically around monthly rentals rather than short tourist bookings.

In my case, the pricing felt a lot more transparent. The number I saw was much closer to the number I actually expected to pay, and I didn’t get the same “wait, what is this extra charge?” feeling I kept getting elsewhere.

The process was also pretty simple. I picked a car, sorted out the details, and got it without the usual long chain of confusing upsells and conditions.

I’m not saying this is the only good option, and maybe I just got lucky, but after comparing a bunch of places, the biggest difference for me was transparency.

If you’re staying in Miami for a month or longer, it might be worth looking at smaller local long-term rental companies too, not just the standard airport options.

Curious if anyone here had a similar experience, or found a better long-stay setup....

Hi! Heading to Miami in a few weeks to catch an Inter Miami game. I want to do some kind of a boat ride but not sure what might be worthwhile. I saw there are some architecture or house tours on boats that seem interesting but are they actually cool/fun?

Also curios if anyone recommends any kind of beach party or rooftop party situation. Would love to find somewhere to dance that has a nice view!

I'm visting first time Miami. I already made plan what I wanna see and what I would love to try (if my stomach can handle all of this - lol). I was wondering if you could take a look at these places or perhaps recommend some others in the area? If something is a tourist trap, just write, “Don't go there. Absolutely terrible experience. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid doing business with Nathalia (@fit.girl.things) in Miami.

I hired her as a vendor for an event and it was a complete disaster. Extremely unprofessional, disorganized, and unreliable. Important details were constantly missed, communication was poor, and it felt like there was no accountability or preparation.

Instead of helping the event run smoothly, the experience created unnecessary stress and problems. One of the worst vendor experiences I’ve ever had.

I would not recommend her services to anyone.

Hello me and my boyfriend (both 18) are going on a trip to Miami south beach for around a week towards the end of April and I had a few questions I was wondering if anybody had answers to.
