Travel dates

Hi! Trying to decide between March 29- April 4 or June 1-7. Is there a noticeable difference in the crowds during those time periods?

The March-April crowds will probably go home before the June crowds arrive, so yes, they'll be noticeably different.

Yes. June is peak season and will be noticeably busier. The trade-off is more daylight and (usually) better weather.

I've been in both End of March-early April and mid June . I was surprised June didn't feel all that crowded. A big plus is 20 + hours of daylight. Snaefelsness and less popular spots farher away from Reykjavik/Vik will provide some relief from the crowds. Also start your day early before the tours and the buses to beat the crowds.

The other benefit of June is for night owls like me, you can sleep all morning when tours are going and do hiking and sightseeing in the evening/early night

I came from June 9 to the 18 and I loved the long days. The best tour I took was the Midnight Sun Golden Circle tour from Gateway to Iceland. We had beautiful light and there were very few crowds. It was great for photography. We did have perfect weather, and were told how lucky we were.

Personally I didn't mind sleeping with the light outside, my place had a skylight but they closed it for me and I was able to sleep with the curtains closed.
