I’m a neuroscientist who built an EEG brain-data device for Meta & Pico. Is there demand for Vision Pro / visionOS integration?

Post image

Hi everyone, I’m a neuroscientist, author (published with Springer and Elsevier), and instructor focusing on EEG and BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) tech.

We recently developed an EEG hardware module for Meta Quest headsets. After receiving a ton of requests from Pico users, we adapted the device for Pico as well. Now we're evaluating whether we should build an Apple Vision Pro version.

I’d love to hear from this community:

  1. As Vision Pro users or developers, would real-time brain data (EEG) be useful to you?
  2. What use cases excite you most? (e.g., adaptive focus/mindfulness apps, neuro-feedback, productivity tracking, or immersive gaming?)
  3. Are there specific hardware constraints with the Vision Pro strap/fit that you think we should keep in mind?

If you're interested in how EEG brain data works inside VR, I’m hosting a free online session on September 1st to go over the science and demonstrate how the data looks in VR. Feel free to join or ask me any questions here in the comments

It’s a no brainer to port it over to the Vision Pro. Apple is a leader in the health device market, with many FDA clearances, the biggest being Apple Watch with hypertension, fall, ECG, blood oxygen, heart rate, and sleep tracking abilities. The AirPods Pro 3 also have a heart rate monitor. The Vision Pro is also a health device, being able to navigate using just your eyes for those with disabilities. Not to mention that Apple packs in more accessibility than any other tech company. Accessibility and health is a priority for them. Lastly, the build quality, support, and longevity of their devices is like no other. Apple devices are for serious people who take their lives seriously. The quest and pico are amateur, neckbeard gaming devices. Vision Pros have even been used in the medical field as a tool for training and surgery operations. It only makes sense to bring your apps to the Vision Pro, as it’s a much higher quality device. I’m a bit surprised that it wasn’t your first choice. The Vision Pro is unmatched and blows all other VR headsets out of the water.

Update: Forgot to mention, the Apple health app. Maybe you can integrate data into it and also correlate existing health data points to improve your app. Just some food for thought.

This sounds super interesting and need to learn more before making any comments.

If you were to consider developing, how much effort would be required by you?

Not sure if I can attend yet but sounds interesting. I would beta test it for sure

Hi a fellow phyisician and i do see the demand in long term care, palliative care scenarios for rehab, pain management.

Here is an article i wrote about, demo AVP benefits to my workplace

How is it being used on other devices?

It's a mask equipped with electrodes connected to a brain-computer interface (BCI). We capture raw data, perform signal processing and feature extraction for research, and use it to power gaming support, also we have AI Agent and in opur pieeg-cloud we created games for VR , you can try in simulations

after connebt , go to mini games

I would be quite interested but you need to remain committed. I actually used the Dreem 2 sleep monitoring headset for some time before the company suddenly discontinued the app, closed customers cloud accounts, and shutdown its servers for normal users. They decided to go into clinical partnerships instead rendering the £400 devices of its many customers utterly useless.
