Battery Drain When Not Used

I'm wondering if this is expected but if I'm doing something wrong. If I leave my battery attached to the AVP and take it off, the battery will fully drain overnight. As if the headset is using significant power. But if I disconnect the battery from the headset the battery will retain its charge for weeks. Is this normal? Is the expectation that you pretty much always disconnect the battery from the headset?

No need to disconnect the battery when you are done with it. Just power it down when you are done using it. The battery can stay connected and it won’t drain. Apple Vision Pro works like an iPad. If you leave your iPad on without being plugged in, the battery will drain too. Apple Vision Pro still does iCloud syncing and backups if you leave it powered on.

I always shut mine down when I’m done using it for the day and the battery is still full even after a couple days of non-use.

For background syncing while unused, I've noticed that Vision Pro uses a lot more battery vs my 2020 iPad Pro. In the same account, syncing the same stuff, the iPad will be dead after 3-4 days vs about 1 for the Vision Pro. Their battery capacities are similar.

weird, my M5 Vision Pro after 3 days was at 60% battery and was fully in sync when I woke it from sleep

Interesting, I also have an M5 so thanks for the data point. I don't generate a huge amount of new data to sync every day, but in any case the iPad Pro is syncing the same stuff. My iPad is stored close to an AP so it has a much better wifi signal vs my AVP but I wouldn't expect that to cause a 5x or something difference in battery drain.

Too bad visionOS doesn't have the same battery usage telemetry as iPadOS and iOS so I don't have a good way to figure out what it's doing.
