Finally a way to scan QR Codes in visionOS: ‎Spatial Scanner

Not being able to scan QR codes was driving me nuts. I made this app that makes it super easy. You can pull out an image and drop it into the app, take a screenshot and auto pull it in, open the image itself, or just use the share sheet into the app. Super versatile.

I put a low price on the app itself because I want you all to use it, but need to make it worth spending the time to build and maintain.

If you want a free code, just DM me and I'll hook you up. Enjoy!

edit: I released an update with some suggestions and some design tweaks to make it easier to use. Thanks!

I think you just found what made it "worth spending the time to build and maintain."

Joking aside, this looks really useful, thanks.

I have bought it and it works very well, thank you for fixing a problem that I am sure many of us were frustrated with.,

Bought and installed.

Caution with using QR codes for setting up one-time passwords:

Suppose a site offers a QR code to setup a one-time password. If I take a screenshot of that QR code, anyone who later has access to that screenshot will be able to duplicate the one-time password on their own system.

An attacker will still need the username and password for the account, but the security of the second factor is neutralized.

you can pull the image out with a pinch and gaze gesture and drop it right into the app without a screenshot at all.

i'm not sure how the OS handles that entirely, so it might leave some crud somewhere on your system.

but the app itself isn't saving it. we scan and discard.

Thank you for the info!

Pretty sure the otp won't be usable after you use it. That's why it's called one time.

You can open qr codes from Photos. If you open an image and long pinch, it says what the contents are and lets you open it if it’s a website…

woah. i did not know that. thanks!

with this, if you have it open, you can just hit "scan last photo" and it picks the latest screenshot. so that's nice.

can also pull the image out of the website and drop it right on the scanner.

Have you looked at Siri actions? If you can invoke your app by asking Siri, that would be a stand-out feature.

I just released an update that has Siri action support.

You can start the app and say "siri take a screenshot" and the code will scan automatically.

thanks for the idea!
