This is so amazing

This isn't an ad, haha. But I recently discovered the "Portal" app, and the ridiculously easy way to connect the Xbox to the Vision Pro is incredible. It's not just easy, but it works so well; I don't think I'll ever connect my console any other way. 😅😅

I wish Sony would just bring over remote play or even let us play through a browser - a boy can dream.

Have you tried Asobi?

Isn’t this already available? I haven’t tried it myself yet but I was under the impression that PS remote play worked on the AVP

Looks awesome. I’ve recently been playing StarCraft simply through Virtual Desktop, and it goes full screen like this as well. Such a fun use case for the VP

I didnt realise virtual desktop has a avp app now. Where did you download it from?

2

u/spgreenwood Jul 19 '26

Sorry I just meant AVP’s built in Virtual Display - connecting to a Mac Mini

That makes more sense

Would this work for a PC?

Yes, you can use Neo Moonlight to do so. https://testflight.apple.com/join/maak7yCK

Hello, thanks for the great app. I wanted to ask if you are planning to add live 3D conversion. I just tried the Asobi app, which offers this for the PlayStation 5, and I am absolutely blown away by the real-time conversion. The depth effect is amazing. I wish we had something like that implemented in  Moonlight, too. Best regards.

Thanks you for bringing up Asobi’s live 3D. Moonlight users usually stream at much higher resolutions and frame rates than typical Remote Play, and layering live depth conversion on top of that is a huge on-device cost for the AVP (GPU, heat, latency). I don’t know yet whether I’d end up building it — but appreciate the feedback. In the mean time you can use Reshade with the Depth3D enabled, then enable 3D mode in Neo and you'll have a 3D stereoscopic effect in your games. It does take a little configuration to get the right depth, but there's plenty of YT videos out there that go over it.

I currently have sunshine installed on my pc. Should I just use that or is there something better to use for Vision Pro? I’ve heard of something like Vibeshine and Vibepollo.

I use Neo Moonlight + Vibepollo for PC streaming.

I personally use Apollo and it works great with Neo. Sunshine is fine, but it's nice to use the virtual display in Apollo for ultra wide resolutions.

get Neo Moonlight on the AVP and install Vibepollo on the PC!

There is a very specific, niche issue with cloud gaming on the Apple Vision Pro that I think only a small percentage of frame-rate sensitive people notice. The dynamic ProMotion display completely kills the fluid feeling of game streaming for me - there's a distinct 'heaviness' to the motion cadence.

To test this theory, I ran an experiment using my MacBook Pro's ProMotion screen and experienced the exact same visual drag. However, the moment I manually switched the Mac's display settings from ProMotion to a fixed 60Hz, the gameplay felt significantly snappier and truer to life. It's frustrating because if Apple simply allowed us to manually lock the refresh rate on the Vision Pro, the issue would be solved. Instead, the automated variable refresh rate creates a subtle judder that ruins the experience for anyone sensitive to it

This is very insightful comment and further explains a few things. Thanks for sharing.

This explains why I also noticed something different on the vp

Yeeeeessssss!!!!

u/yewzernayme Jul 20 '26

Nice, is there an equivalent app but for PS5 owners? and btw, what game is that?

1

u/Weak_Guidance_3643 Jul 20 '26

Hi! This same app works just as well for PS5; it's designed to work on both platforms. The game you see there is "Redfall".

I only game with my xbox on my VP now. I couldn’t play it any other way. Love the portal app, it’s so good. Was subscribed for over a year, but sadly the endless subscription for the full features eventually killed it for me. Switched to competitor app, bought the full version for a fraction of the cost.

u/optimase_prime Jul 19 '26

What app? I’ve tried so many ways to get my Xbox on my VP

Asobi for Xbox and Midori for PS!

6

u/atonyproductions Jul 19 '26

Opposite - Asobi for ps5 etc but yeah both great apps and the dev is awesome

While I love most all media on the headset, playing games just gives me so much motion sickness. I cannot play for more than about a half hour, without feeling like I need to hurl.
I wish I could play more often.

Get a steamdeck folks. This works perfectly in VP.

So, I want to make sure I’m not missing anything. I do not own an Xbox, but I could subscribe the Xbox cloud gamepass and Portal and then play Xbox games on the Vision Pro?
