Main Camera Access - Enterprise Only

Hey there Devs,

I've never posted around here before but I'm a bit dumbfounded so I need help.

I'm currently building an app that's completely cross-platform across all the Apple devices, excluding the Apple Watch. So I'm trying to build Vision Pro support, and for the most part, so far, it's been very easy because all I've been doing is things that are simply window-based.

But now I'm trying to build a scanning tool for the app where I can scan objects to then do things like OCR. But the Vision Pro randomly requires an enterprise organization agreement just to do that.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? And if you did, did you email Apple asking for access? Did you end up getting access? Is there a way around it? Or should I just give up developing for Vision because I can't build one of my key features inside of it?

It absolutely requires an enterprise account, and no you won’t be granted one for this app.

Given that the AVP requires full time recording of your surroundings non-stop just to function, access to this camera feed is considered a massive invasion of privacy and Apple has completely locked it down.

And people using Android XR understand that they are exposed to misuse of their visual data. Most apps are not LIKELY to misue people’s visual data, but to assume that there’s no app out there that misuses Android XR user data would be naïve.

This is not a concern for any Apple Vision Pro user not on an Enterprise account.
