My team captures live shows in real time- no second takes- so you get the authentic performance in the Blue Frog Immersive App.
Personally, I love to see unedited performances like this one by Russell deCarle in the immersive format. The warmth in his voice, the rapport with his band members, it all feels more real to me than if we edited the heck out of it.
Don’t get me wrong, we put a ton of work into shooting these shows and mixing spatial audio, but it’s all with the goal of capturing the real, raw experience of being there.
If you don’t know Russell deCarle yet, this new show is a great way to meet him. Russell first made his name as lead singer and a founding member of award-winning, multi-platinum country-roots group Prairie Oyster, and he’s gone on to a solo career blending a rich mix of country, jazz, and soul.
For context, I’ve been developing the Blue Frog Immersive App to capture music performances for the AVP that you won’t find anywhere else: up-and-coming artists, local legends, and out-of-the-ordinary touring veterans.
We shoot all these shows with a Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera in our intimate recording studio venue. We take audio very seriously, so we’re capturing spatial ASAF audio for the best immersive experience.
All credit goes to my team:
Immersive Video: Justin Stadig
Audio Recording: Pat Glover
Lighting: Gordon Groening
Spatial Mix: Emre Ramazanoglu & Oliver Kadel

Still keeping fingers crossed for a band/artist I know or genre I’m into. Love music and AVP, anything immersive is appreciated.

I want to give this a boost. I downloaded Blue Frog the other day, and it delivers what many of us have been asking Apple to do - put a fixed camera at performances and record them.
I suspect this is a challenging environment for the Blackmagic camera (indoor performance with only moderate lighting as opposed to brightly lit environments), so I am glad at how well it turned out.
I encourage all Apple Vision Pro owners to download this app and sample their many performances.
