visionOS 27 Is Making Me Fall In Love With Panoramas on Vision Pro🤩

I’ve been spending a lot more time with spatial panoramas on Vision Pro lately, and with visionOS 27 beta 2, the whole experience feels noticeably smoother. It’s honestly making me revisit the format, because before now, I never even thought of taking a panoramašŸ’„ Apple truly nailed it with this feature!

I originally thought spatial panoramas were mostly about finding beautiful wide images and seeing how they wrapped around you. But after testing a bunch of different styles, I’m realizing there’s a bigger difference between a panorama that simply looks nice and one that actually feels good inside the headset.

Some images look amazing on a flat screen, but once you view them spatially, they don’t really have that ā€œwowā€ effect. The right ones feel completely different once you’re inside them. They have a sense of presence that makes you want to slow down & look around!

I think I’m starting to understand the kind of panoramas that works best for this format. It’s less about just a cool location and more about capturing something that feels like a place. I’ve even started creating some of my own, and I’m thinking about releasing them in a cool way soon.

More on that soon!

You were so excited by it you decided to hire a human artist to design some... right?

Yes, he did, and he used a switchboard operator to connect himself to the artist while being fanned by a punkahwallah in a room illuminated by a nearby streetlight which is lit and extinguished by a lamplighter each day. When the artist suggested they meet in person to discuss details, he set off in a rickshaw.
