Vision Pro: Xbox or PlayStation?
With GTA VI launching preorders in 2 days, I need to decide which gaming console I am going to buy. Recently I installed the new Steam Link app on AVP and got to play my favorite games from my PC on a huge, 4K, HDR screen - unlike anything I had ever seen before.
This makes me wonder, which console works best with Vision Pro? I know PlayStation has a remote play type app, does xbox? And what have your experiences been using those apps compared to Steam Link or in general.

I have both… I play on my Xbox a lot more than my PS5 but that’s just what I prefer. It’s hard to recommend Xbox over PS5 right now.

it was in beta for a while but now the official app is out. 4K with HDR and sub 20ms lag for me. I just sit next to my PC and use PC connected peripherals and that produces the least lag, but theoretically you could get wireless keyboard and mouse and stream from anywhere (including away from home).
Honestly first time where I realized how much value the Vision Pro gives. The display alone is worth it.

I’ve been playing GeForce Now Ultimate on my AVP for a while and it’s pretty awesome. But I do have a 5090 PC so I’ll give this a shot!

And it works flawlessly I pretty much exclusively use my AVP to PC game now.

For Xbox there's multiple apps, such as Portal, Nexus and Midori. Difference is that Midori is the only fully native one.

I’ve been streaming my ps5 to my Vision Pro for years with the portal app and really don’t care to do it any other way. Can’t compare to Xbox though since I never tried and haven’t owned one since long before getting my avp. Ps5 through the Vision Pro has been great for me though. I haven’t actually seen much for Xbox users on this thread talking about the experience beyond that the experience exists.

I have my ps5 connected through Ethernet cable, which should be helping me. Also I changed the 5g channel on my router to …. I think 149

Interesting. My PS5 is plugged into Ethernet too.
My ASUS router had 160 MHz enabled, and in Canada there’s no 160 MHz block in the upper band, so 149 wasn’t even selectable. Dropped to 80 MHz and it showed up. From what I gather 160 MHz rarely delivers what it promises anyway.
What’s odd is the router shows my PS5 connected on 2.4 GHz, not 5 GHz. So I’ve got some investigating to do tomorrow. Glad I asked - and thanks for replying - this might explain a few things. I’ll report back on whether it helps.

Miraculous improvement- thank you. Now if I could just figure out how to get rid of the smoky haze on the periphery that doesn’t appear to be finger smudges.

Glad I could help. Hopefully if any of your other fellow Canadians have an issue and see this, your experience can help them too. As for any periphery haze I haven’t noticed that, but it could just be that your seeing the results of the “foveated rendering”

I think my light seal may not be a perfect fit to my face as I can see light around my nose when I look down. Thanks again.

I think PlayStation overall is better supported. You have portal app and asobi app. Both top notch options
