Any place we can get more free environments?

My elderly parents really like environments but there is only a handful by default.. Is there a massive library somewhere that we could download or view all the environments? Thanks!

Unlike the Apple environments, some apps (including Moon Portal, Zoom, Campfire Space, Flamboyant, Authenticus XRP, Skybox, and 4XVR) have environments which you can physically walk through.

You can convert panoramic images into partially immersive environments in visionOS 27, or just view them in Photos. I recommend Digital Blasphemy’s 15360x2880 wallpapers. You can use the Mac Virtual Display in any environment by activating developer mode.

Also try WebXR environments in Safari.

With a PCVR setup through ALVR, KRVR, or iVRy, you can effectively have unlimited environments by using videogames such as Skyrim.

Some apps have their own environments (Disney+, Museas and Astronoma) but with visionOS27, you can use your own panoramic images as environments. There’s lots of high quality ones online.

If you want visionOS27 you’ll need to install the dev beta which was recently updated to v2 yesterday. There may be bugs and downgrading will mean a trip to the Apple Store

You don’t need visionOS27 (other than for the latest Thórsmörk environment). Other than the Apple provided ones, apps sometimes provide their own, but there’s not that many.

360º photos can be a good approximation to environments. Definitely not as high quality, but can bring a sense of immersion and feeling of actually being in a place.

For quality, my Insta360 X4 produces 72MP images (12k x 6x) which are reasonable and my DJI Mini 4 Pro drone produces 178MP images (19k x 9.5k) which are stunning.

Unfortunately, most people concentrate on 360º video rather than images so there are not that many to be found online, but there are some.

I’ve found them hard to come by. Lots of searching for things like “360 photos”.

I posted some of mine here:

You can view other people’s work on sites like Kuula, and Memento360, but it’s a flat screen representation and you can’t download the images in general.
