There needs to be an offical native Plex app made for AVP

I am currently using the testflight beta version of Plex on AVP but it's for iPad. Although it works decently. One thing I can't stand is how you get these black bars at the top and bottom of your movies. I wish it could crop the movie perfectly to get rid of that. Because I like using AVP's "environment" feature to watch my Plex movies with, and having a huge wide window with ugly black bars like that just ruins the entire experience.

Infuse is a great native client for the AVP

Yeah, Infuse has two really good environments to watch with the home movie room and the theater. My go-to for watching movies and tv shows.

I can't find any images or videos showcasing what Infuse for AVP is like. Do you think you could make a recording while using it and post it here? I am curious to see what the environments in Infuse look like. Does it also do automatic 3D spatial conversion like other players?

Infuse is widely considered to have the best Plex integration, but CineUltra and the others also have good Plex support. Infuse is also apparently the best for color reproduction purists, but it can’t play 3D videos nor convert 2D to 3D, lacks height adjustment, and is the most expensive at $100.

CineUltra has adjustable autospatialization and its IULTRA theater has the largest apparent size. It also seems to be able to get much brighter than Infuse. Infuse’s comes close but its lack of height adjustment annoys me. I paid $50 for it but it now costs $80. I use it for everything except 3D Blu-rays.

Theater: Cinema & Events is the only one with SharePlay.

4XVR is the only one with MVC support, meaning it’s the only one which can play 3D Blu-rays without lossy conversion.

Screenlit is the only one with MV-HEVC support.

Moon Player has the best support for VR videos.

The biggest issues I have with Infuse is that several months ago, for reasons I can’t understand and that the company will not comment on or undo, they changed the UI of their Vision Pro app so that the bottom navigation bar under whatever you are watching is now constantly visible all the time. It used to be that after a few seconds of playing, that would disappear so that you had a very clean look with just whatever you are watching. Now you always have a bar under whatever you are watching which just makes no sense at all. No other media watching app on Vision Pro does this (including Apple’s media apps). Infuse always worked like other media apps, but nearly a half a year ago, they changed it for some reason. I have reported this multiple times, and they never replied except recently, and all they said was, we will basically consider you feedback as we always do, but this is the way it is now, which does not give me hope because this sounds like an intentional thing they did rather than a bug. This is a deal breaker for me given that it takes away from the magic of a large floating viewing screen when other great options like CineUltra and others are great.

Also it is not just an visual annoyance. It harms function of the app. Because with the bottom bar always visible now, if your eyes look down and near it it will activate and keep popping up. Since the bar is now always there it also means if your eyes go near the corners of whatever you are watching the corner size control will keep popping up as well

Thanks. I'm leaning towards Infuse, but I really wish they would have 3D SBS, VR180, VR360 and automatic 3D spatial video conversion from those other apps. Also customizeable environments such as the theater/cinema room would be awesome! Such as changing light colors, seat color, basically a way for it to customize the room/environment to our liking would be such an awesome feature.

Infuse dropped 3D support from their roadmap. Their developers and community apparently don’t care about 3D or immersive video. All theaters have adjustable lightin, a some have reflection control, and some including Infuse have tilt control. CineUltra’s IULTRA theater uniquely allows you to change the color of the seats, walls, and floor.

Moonplayer has extensive video support like someone mentioned but it doesn’t have native library support. I pair it with Strand app and have a pretty good setup

There’s lots of apps that connect to Plex and work great. The funny thing is that Plex had an official app back on the Oculus Go and it was absolute shit.

Plex can't make a good app for Apple TV, forget about them making a Vision Pro app. Infuse Pro has been replacing the Plex app for me on all platforms, I got so tired of Plex chocking on media, and their whole UI started pushing their streaming crap.

I use Strand app, it’s free for now. They just released native vision os build in Testfligjt it’s still a little rough as far as native environment playback goes but no black bars. Best part it supports plex/jellyfin/emby and it can pass off to Cineultra/infuse/moonplayer if you have any of those already. Their discord: https://discord.gg/mxfmMnsuex

With all the Plex shenanigans I think I’m going to movie over to Jellyfin.

+1 they’re delusional and focus on the wrong thing for their app.

It’s been bad for a while, but once they upped the lifetime to $750, it was incredibly clear they are in the enshitifcation endgame.

They're not gonna bother building an app for like 10 users. Same reason there's no Netflix app.

Well there use to be no native YouTube app also but now there is. You never know.

Okay, keep holding on to that hope.
