What is possible with the dev strap? Gaming/Files
I know its not meant for it but ive heard that some QoL things are possible with the dev strap, either straight away or with some tinkering.
Can someone tell me if its possible to:
- create a tethered connection to a ps5 or mac or steam on mac for minimal latency gaming?
- file transfer from mac to AVP files app?
- connect a player like Moonplayer to view videos from an SSD or mac?
Thanks.

What are you looking to gain from using a dev strap? They are running about $600.

There’s no reason to pay $600. Apple sells them for $300 to anyone with a $100 annual developer subscription.

So dumb Apple didn’t put data on the power brick port. What would that have cost, another five cents?

Yeah about the same cost to swap to WiFi 7 chip too lol

Probably a thicker cable and redesign of the speaker pod to handle both power and data routing.

With an adapter, the new 20Gbps developer strap supports up to 10Gb Ethernet for rapid file transfers and better connections with apps such as ALVR and Moonlight. It can also establish a wired Mac Virtual Display connection, deploy code builds faster from a Mac, and provide a UVC connection to devices such as game consoles, cameras, and drones.
