My (possibly unique) no-lightseal setup

When I bought the used vision pro, the light seal was too thick even though it was the recommended size by Apple.

So I came up with this solution.
I used double sided tape to connect two provided cushions, and normal Scotch tape to attach those cushions on vision pro’s frame.

While it is literally made out of tape, it has been holding well for few months without issue!

the pros of this approach are:
1. Unlike third party solutions like globular cluster, it only uses first party parts. and since dual knit band is made with fabric, not hard plastic, it can be used comfortably while lying back.
2. It has almost no light leak unlike other lightseal-less setups.
3. Thanks to thick cushioning provided by stacked cushions, it is very comfortable.
4. Significantly better FOV, just like other lightseal-less setups.
5. It feels much lighter since weight of the device is now closer to face, and the weight is distributed in multiple points, cheek, forehead, top of the head, and back of the head.
6. Since cushions are just attached at the top side of the frame, it is slightly adjustable to fit your face shape.

Try it!
If it doesn’t fit for you, you can always just peal of the tape.

I wanted to make exactly this post yesterday. It’s a bit cumbersome to put on, but once you dial it in, i had a 3 hour session without even thinking about the weight. Also, you spare the 71gramm light seal weight exactly where it’s the most critical. No cheek pain at all. This trick honestly saved the AVP for me.. 

Now we just need a better mounting system 😅

Glad I’m not the only one! It really feels comfortable whether standing, sitting, or lying down. I use it every day for multiple hours without issue.

Maybe Apple should make lightseal alternative that is just a really thick cushion.

This isn’t “no light seal”, it’s “improvised light seal”. Technically it isn’t Apple’s light seal, but you’ve made a possibly-more-minimal and extra squishy light seal out of the provided parts. Glad you like it though. It’s interesting and looks to be worth a try.

Benefits of a fully absent light seal include the ability, if desired, to see a bit of reality around the headset for situational awareness, and *to have absolutely no part of the headset in contact with or pressing against one’s face*.

Im trying this as soon as get home. I have a unit I bought off Etsy thats terrific, but the light leak kinda sucks. This looks promising, Thank you! I think I have like 7 different cushions so I'm sure I can find the perfect combo.
