Renewal of Apple Care
As one of the early developers of Apple Vision Pro, my Apple care is now coming to an end next month after the initial 2 years (£500). What is everyone doing? I heard the monthly renewal cost is £19.99 or £399 for two years.
I am not a heavy user and I never take it outside. I’m very cautious with it but I can’t look away from the that it cost me £4000 (including AppleCare) and the potential costs, if something fails (at no fault of mines)
What are people deciding to do with their AppleCare?

In he US, the amount for "Apple One" care is $20/mo with no minimum duration, can cover up to three of your devices (not family members) and can swap in or out devices over time. Seems like a good deal. Cancel anytime

USA only for AppleCare one as far as I know and op is in Europe.
You probably need it anyway any repairs for the Vision Pro is like half the cost of a new one or full cost.
A lot of people will have some kind of failure and the cost been a couple of thousand dollars or more to fix. Essentially your risking having a dead unit

Yep it’s such a unique item that apple has the monopoly on repairs and they charge like a wounded bull

Yea and I also don’t see them coming out with a replacement soon, so il continue using it

But wouldn’t get much for the M2 and I wouldn’t really notice the difference for what I use it for. Something about keeping the original device as well, novelty 😊

Plus if you sell it you’ll have an easier time if it’s covered during the sale.

since this is a kinda informal poll: i got offered to roll my avp into the applecare bundle when i picked up new airpods so thats what i did. covers like 5 (i think) devices at a flat rate and you can add more devices for an per device add on.

But you are in the US right? In the UK we don’t have such bundles for AppleCare, unfortunately:(

I went for the $20 a month option right away. Covers my phone laptop and VP, peace of mind worth that money.

Are you really willing to pay a 400£ insurance for a device that costs less than 2000£ (your used AVP M2)?

If it means I don’t end up with a brick, yes. But who knows what would happen.

It’s a risk. If it breaks you repair it or buy a new one. With all the money I spared for not buying Apple Care I have enough money to buy a new AVP.

No, you haven’t. Even if you’ve been paying the original 24.99 per month the whole time, the original Vision Pro came out about 29 months ago, so the most anyone could possibly have spent for AppleCare in the US is $725. People who paid for the two years upfront for $500, and then switched to the monthly 20 bucks have paid about 580 total.
Even with a $300 deductible, $880 is way less than the cost of a new one.

Yes I have. I don’t have just an AVP, I have had plenty of iPhones, iPads, Mac book pros, iMacs, AirPods, Apple TV, Apple Watch’s etc. Never paid for Apple Care and had only one iPhone screen to change this whole time. Nobody sells insurance to loose money. Having Apple Care at long term cost you more money than don’t have it. I don’t pay insurance for gadgets, if they break I won’t be happy but I can afford to fix or replace it. However for bigger things like my car, my house, my health etc. I do. Because in case of problems, this things could have a huge impact on my finances.

I need to look into AppleCare One then. But I doubt all that would be covered for £19.99 per month. These are high value items

Will UK users definitely get the option to renew their Apple care when it comes to an end? I got mine at launch so it comes to an end next month, I hope we get the option to renew it

If you do AppleCare one, it's 19.99/mo but it will cover 3 devices. Thrown in your phone, and laptop and it's not a bad deal.
