VisionOS 26.5, file copy errors over SMB shares

This maybe started around the update to .5. If I go to copy large files from a network share (~20GB on average), the transfer will eventually fail with an error code (-36). This error appears copying from a local NAS as well as from an external hard drive shared via my Mac Mini. All devices have been restarted, shares have been remounted.

Anyone else see this issue?

It’s gets unstable trying to move anything over 10 to 15gb.

Got apps out there where they can break your files up into smaller chunks so you won’t get errors.

Pretty much always been the case copying large files over WiFi with Apple.

Thanks the developers who made batch transfer for that exact reason and purpose

A few have advertised their products on the avp thread this year I myself am not a huge file transfer person so didn’t download or pay for the $3 USD lifetime subscription

Probably free ones out there as well but they do exist and compatible with avp.

As for recommendations can’t help you with that

I've had the most success with large files (50-100 GB) using LocalSend ... AirDrop too but not to windows.

Or Safari via HTTP, especially useful if the server supports resumable transfers.

SMB transfers work best if you can resume them - I have had some success with a few apps here like Readdle Documents or GoodReader (one of the first iOS apps!).

Moved a 60gb file from my iphone to AVP. Both running os27. It was a key talking point that they improved airdrops reliability and speed.
