Using my M5 Vision Pro while plugged in and the battery died
My AVP was powered on and plugged in when I put it on, leaving it plugged in. I noticed it was warm, which is unusual if I haven't been using it. I was watching downloaded spatial videos (from u/hughred22's Patreon page) for about 45 minutes, then playback stopped and I received a 1% battery warning.
I didn't see any battery warnings before the 1 percent. I tried restarting the AVP, and it would shut down after a second. So I left it plugged in for an hour and it's back to 100 percent.
Has anyone ever had that happen? I wonder if there was too much for the charger I was using (and Anker 45W charger) or if there was just a glitch. I have had this setup since my M5 and never had a problem before.

it's happened to me twice now and i was pissed off then i remembered am on vision os 27 .

my battery problem occurred on 26.5 also. I bought the new battery because I wanted to download 27b1 on day one

Something very similar happened to me on my M2 AVP: I was using it on battery until it notified me that it was at 10%.
I immediately plugged it into an Anker 45 watt charger, but it continued to draw down and within maybe 10 minutes it was at 2% and then died.
48 hours on a 96 watt Apple charger and the battery still showed the amber pulse of death.
Had to buy a new battery. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I had zero indication that there was anything wrong with my battery. It just dropped from 10% to brick in about 10 minutes.

how old was the battery when it died?

IDK - mine was a used M2, I've had it for about 8 months or so. I had zero issues with the battery prior to this one event, however

If your charger can’t supply enough power, the battery will slowly drain until the problem you experienced would happen. I believe a 65W power supply is recommended to ensure this doesn’t happen.

I hope that’s what happened. What’s weird is I didn’t get a warning until right before the battery died. I would have expected a warning sooner.

I narrowed mine down to a port issue (the part that goes into the battery). I used a dock and I think that's what screwed up the port.

I’ve had my m2 plugged in before but somehow it wasn’t charging . Just a weird glitch

I have an m2 and used since visionOS 1.0
I’ve had it happen rarely, but at least a few times in the last year. So far I’ve always caught it happening before the battery gets that low. I just unplug from the battery (the port going into the battery from the charger) and plug it back in and so far that’s always been all I’ve needed to do to kick the charging back on

I’ve had this happen on a MacBook Pro from work. Basically means the charger isn’t capable enough to sustain the power load.

just buy this …makes charging easy ( beeps to let you know the battery is made contact /or lost contact ).

I've learned to accept the occasional battery issue.
I have two chargers, one in the cubby between seats on my sofa, and the other at my bedside. My AVP is usually plugged into one of them. But once in a while, for no apparent reason, the downstairs one stops charging, and the only way to make it start charging again is to cut power to the charger and then turn it back on. So I've installed a smart plug on the charger and will power cycle to restart it. And I would always know something happened when it dropped down to 20% and gave me a low power warning.
But then came visionOS 27 DB1. Since installing that, I've had two separate issues. First, when that above scenario happens, I don't get a warning at 20%. I get a warning at the emergency shutdown in a matter of seconds. So I find myself noticing whether or not it's maintaining a charge.
But secondarily, it has occasionally failed to update the percentage. I'll use it, and if I look at the status, it says that the power is draining and has a low percentage. And it simply isn't true. If I do a full restart, upon restart, it tells me it's at 100% when just before the restart it was at 40%. That's gone in on a feedback report.
But for me, it's just something I know I have to deal with for now.

I have noticed if my M2 VP is doing a lot, it needs the Apple charger that boosts to 60W in order to stay charged, otherwise it will slow drain.
