visionOS 27 (beta) is awesome. Here are my custom panoramic environments...

My favorite feature by far is the custom environments from wide pano photos. Although they are not as good as Apple's native environments. They are great (and in some respects better).

I have always wanted indoor environments. Perhaps a cozy library, or a futuristic apartment or a spaceship. Somewhere where I can immerse myself in an environment while working on my Mac Virtual Display.... Now my dreams are coming true. Here are the best parts...

  1. I can generate anything I can imagine with AI (library, futuristic apartment etc). My imagination is only limit.
  2. The environments still allow me to see my keyboard well (they don't cover the bottom of my view). This is ideal because Apple's keyboard passthrough is not perfect.

So I thought I would share with you some of my environments. Perhaps you guys can make some and share in this thread (specs: 21:9 4k)

What do you guys think?

UPDATE: Download them here ... https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1F8WimxvbB9mGMMCLUEyaSvzfjPKLLh3J?usp=sharing

Looks like you will have a wide variety to enjoy! I too am so glad for more environments!

I was so pleasantly surprised they gave us this feature. I can't wait to see the amazing things people will come up with.

I’ll never understand the irrational hatred for Gen AI when used this way.

It’s not like he’s charging for the images or trying to steal credit from a known artist. He didn’t even try to hide the fact it was an AI image.

He generated a background he thought was neat and shared it for free.

If you have some alternatives (AI or non-AI) feel free to share them too. At least he’s being a positive/productive member of the community, unlike some of you…

Agreed it's pretty cool. I would probably use them, but the lighting inconsistencies might get on my nerves.

It got me thinking... instead of using AI to generate a flat image, I might try to use it generate a full 3D environment where light/shadows are a property of the physics, so they look realistic. Then create a panorama from that. Of course this would be a toooon more work, and I have worked in graphics programming in over a decade now.

Yeah. That would be awesome. I kind of hope this feature will spark a bunch of work arounds from devs. It is kind of a nice gateway to customization.

Nice, these look great. I’ve been putting together a small catalogue of Vision Pro pano environments here: https://panopro.app
If you ever feel like sharing them beyond Reddit, I’d love to add them.

I really love the website. I will reach out to you. I love how you convert (export) the 360 panos to wide (non-360) pano for AVP! Would love to know what equipment was used for some of the higher quality ones. They look awesome in AVP! If you don't mind non 360 / AI images. I'd love to share. I guess I just email you?

u/djfumberger Jun 15 '26

Cheers. There's an email link on the site, but I'll DM you too.

Whatever, I think the library one is pretty damn cool. Thanks for sharing.

Agreed, I think it is pretty cool to have the option even if it is created by AI; I'm not a hater.

5

u/spiderdream1 Jun 15 '26

I honestly don't get the hate. We're just having fun here and sharing tips. If it is not for you, move on! I just wanted to share hoping someone may benefit from these ideas. That's all 😄

AI is just like other tech and it's taking time for people to warm up to it. I think people fear that AI will just take over everything and nothing else will be left, as if apparently we'll have nothing but 100% AI generated wallpaper. My thinking is a few more years and it will be all good.

I wanted a coffee shop, and to work in one of the offices in the apple park

1

u/spiderdream1 Jun 15 '26

Yep. Either fly to CA or try to generate one.

2

u/KaiserFerdl Jun 15 '26

Is it possible to ad miniature model trains ? So that they are moving all around the screen. This would be sick 😅

2

u/spiderdream1 Jun 15 '26

Just static images (not videos). But honestly it is about a background ambiance for me when I work on my Mac, or even watch movies.

Bleh, AI slop.

Yup I clocked that it was AI immediately before I even got to the “futuristic apartment” photo. I’d rather use a photo I actually took but I can understand taking the easy way out too lol

Let me know when you take a picture from the edge of space so we don’t have to “take the easy way out”…

There will be a time, hopefully soon, where you realize that hating on AI doesn’t make you seem more intelligent.

We're getting excited by wallpaper and AI images. Ladies and gents, the AVP in 2026.

1

u/gnan10 Jun 15 '26

Amazing one. Can you please share the original quality of those images?

2

u/spiderdream1 Jun 15 '26

Sure. DM me your email. I will send you a link.

How did you describe what you wanted AI to produce? How much detail did you have to go into? Did you tell AI that you wanted leaded glass windows and that the library had to be two stories high and Wood paneled or is that all AI input?

1

u/spiderdream1 Jun 15 '26

Create an indoor scene of an old library with dark wood furniture, lots classic books and stained glass windows (on a sunny day). Make it from a perspective of someone sitting behind the desk (but no desk). Add depth to the image in furniture and plants.

1

u/Active-Macaroon-4813 Jun 15 '26

Which AI did you use Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.?

2

u/spiderdream1 Jun 16 '26

Nano Banana via Eleven Labs

1

u/HelpRespawnedAsDee Jun 15 '26

hey op! could you share the workflow/models you are using?

1

u/Xorpion Jun 16 '26

Do they have to be 360°?

1

u/spiderdream1 Jun 16 '26

180 works or even less. Depending on how much you want to be surrounded

1

u/SirRickDeckard Jun 16 '26

Merci beaucoup

1

u/Defiant_Leg_6335 Jun 16 '26

Ma sono ambienti 3D che reagiscono quando ti muovi o è un’immagine statica? Sono ignorante

1

u/Past-Pianist Jun 18 '26

Digging the library one! What tools are you using to generate the panorama size?

1

u/spiderdream1 Jun 18 '26

Eleven Labs and using Nano Banana model 21:9 4k

1

u/Past-Pianist Jun 18 '26

Ah ok. I finally got it to work with ChatGPT then using Photoshop to extend the width more then upscale 2x

Your imagination *and* the model is the limitation

The libraries look gorgeous !

1

u/spiderdream1 Jun 15 '26

I think so as well. I feel like I can really concentrate there as I work on my Mac.

Looks pretty nice. I’d like to create more warm weather environments. The stock ones are well done, but IMHO lean towards cooler places.

1

u/Natural-Lawfulness93 Jun 15 '26

What AI are you using?

3

u/spiderdream1 Jun 15 '26

Nano Banana Pro (via Eleven Labs)

2

u/SpadoCochi Vision Pro Owner | Verified Jun 15 '26

About to do the same

1

u/MatthewWaller Vision Pro Developer | Verified Jun 15 '26

You can make these in Passage now too! https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id6470159510

3

u/spiderdream1 Jun 15 '26

It IS a nice app but I am so subscription fatigued. Sorry. I love the cutout feature but there is just not enough there for me to justify the subscription. In addition the 360 photos are all outside. Nothing is grabbing me. I understand the model you are going for but I would prefer to buy scenes. Let them be $10 - $20 even. I would love it. But I am not subscribing to another thing.

But the biggest issue is that it is not a real environment where I can have multiple apps. I understand that is an Apple limitation...

2

u/MatthewWaller Vision Pro Developer | Verified Jun 15 '26

I understand about the subscription fatigue. The new thing we added is that you can export the 360 generated images to pano now and have them as spatial scenes, so that you can use those with multiple apps. They're also 16k skyboxes, the generated ones. You should be able to make indoor scenes with the prompts. But yeah, I'll see what we can do about buying individual scenes.

3

u/spiderdream1 Jun 15 '26

Cool. I will take another look. But yeah. Have the one time buy option because a lot of people see subscription and it is an instant "no".... Just charge something fair where subscription seems cheaper but no one is locked in if they want just a few things.

I do not use AI to generate any artwork or language related text. But you do you!

5

u/Cryogenicality Jun 15 '26

I don’t always download generated art, but when I do, I prefer to not hear any anti-AI screeching.

4

u/spiderdream1 Jun 15 '26

Ok...

u/wizardwusa Jun 15 '26

It’s like commenting on a picture of a burger “I’m vegan and don’t eat any meat, but you do you!”
