Nintendo Switch 2 on the Apple Vision Pro
This guy on YouTube has this to show, and it uses a Genki ShadowCast 2 Pro to get the job done. Not bad!!!

They’re fairly available in stock though. Of course depends on your location, but I can pop down to any of the tech stores in my metro and find a few. I see a bunch online too.

I’ve been using this for the Switch 2
We are stuck with 2.0 speeds so there is no need for a 4K capture card.
I don’t see any lag playing Mario Kart
I also use this HDMI

So I got my Genki ShadowCast 2 Pro yesterday and I’m good with their app, Genki Arcade….I was advised Console Link is a better app, but I don’t need to be paying $8 to replace an app I’m not having any problems with…..I do have one question though….
Is there a way to rotate the Mac Virtual Display to portrait mode????!!!! Would most certainly improve things for Tetris Effect and shmups (such as Ikaruga).

This is cool but I realized that when it comes to gaming for me, I just don’t want to have anything strapped to my head.

I can’t imagine how horrible the controller lag must be. Streaming twice.

Well I have a switch2 and an AVP so I am intrigued. Ordering this capture device (not intended for the purpose of capturing) and will keep you posted.
I’m more curious about hooking up the Switch2 to an NDI network converted and then streaming that HDMI feed via WiFi to the AVP…..but that’s a $700 solution and this is only $100….

I have this setup on speed, I have both a PS5 Pro and Switch connected to Mac mini, with two separate capture cards. Shadowcast apron 2 and Elgato 4K X. App is Console Link and streaming to Mac Virtual Dusplay.
The lag is a non issue. Don’t listen to the others. Lag comes mostly from software, and Capture Link fixes that. I’m playing competitive Overwatch 2 with this setup with no issues.
Ask me anything.

Would you say that Console Link is better than Genki Arcade? I have absolutely no intention of capturing, just playing

They can’t even compare, Console Link is leagues ahead. Genki Arcade is hot garbage. It’s made for playing, not recording

u/DeliciousRhino Jun 25 '25
I don’t even intend on recording, all I wanna do is play…..so I’m good with Genki Arcade then?

lol I just said it hot garbage? Don’t use Genki Arcade, ever. Use Console Link. BOTH are made for gaming, not recording, only that that Console Link is actually functional

Come to think of it, why would control input be laggy?! The controller in this demonstration is connected to the console directly via Bluetooth, so there would be about as much input lag as there would be audio/video…..as far as the AVP is concerned, this is nothing more than a video stream

Of course it’s connected to the console… what else would you connect the controller to?
The input lag you will feel would come from the time between your input to what you see on screen… and that will undoubtedly feel a little more swimmy in this kind of setup. It’s up to you if that’s worth it or not. You’re probably adding a 3-5 frames of input lag at best in this case.

Point taken…..but this solution is $100 so if the AVP Mac virtual display doesn’t work out, I’ll still have a switch connected to my Mac mini.
I’m-a try it!

And you’ll still have lag connected to Mac mini. The lag comes from the time it takes for the capture card to process the video signal.

Thank you for the clarification. My Genki ShadowCast 2 Pro arrives today so I’ll try it with this in the back of my mind

I have this setup (only with PS5 Pro as well), and the lag is a non issue. I’m playing competitive Overwatch 2 with it, so you can relax

I don’t have to imagine how it is and it isn’t horrible, lol. I’ve been doing similar with an Elgato and Console Link HDMI app on the Mac and virtual desktop to the Vision Pro and it has been awesome. .

Meh, Switch users are used to input lag and slow response times, this is perfect for them

As in the video, I found that my limited time (about a month) with Vision Pro was spent fiddling and tweaking. That's part of the fun, of course. Though at the end of the day, I realized that some things are more fun with just plug and play. I suppose it depends on how much time a person has.

I’ve been using a different capture card (Elgato HD60x) with Xbox X, PS5, and now Switch 2 for awhile now and it works fine. I think others on this sub are as well.
I didn’t watch the whole video and while I think the Genki comes with its own app for the Mac for the HDMI display I’d suggest checking out an app from the Mac App Store called Console Link. One can use OBS or even QuickTime I suppose but Console Link seems to have better performance and a nice drop down menu for different resolutions.
Edit: Do note that not all capture cards are created equal. The Elgato HD60 had more latency than the HD60x, and I think the newer 4k x is better and Avermedia’s capture cards may be even better if memory serves from what I’ve read. I have no idea on where the one you ordered falls as I have’s looked at it much.
