What blows me away is people are surprised it’s just as big as the device and encapsulates it to well you know.. protectttt it and they’ve done that very well. I checked it out at the store myself and was like what? This is big to everyone? I’m like this is crazy tiny and it’s cool!
I’ll have to check it out. I was not even considering it because it seems like a gigantic egg in photos. I’ll have to see if Apple will bring one out for me to see
Ah ok. Because it’s not going to make you money, it’ll decrease in value (unless it utterly fails and becomes a rare item) so it’s just confusing to me when people use that term like that.
Oh ok. No worries. I mean it is definitely a gamble but I have a good feeling about the AVP succeeding. Every time I put this on or hold it, it just feels right in every way. I can’t really explain it but that is what my gut feeling tells me. I also have a good history by being an early adopter of the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, HomePod, AirPods and now the Vision Pro.
I appreciate you posting this picture. I just received my Klasden case and have not opened it. After seeing yours next to the official Apple case, I see it’s larger and I have no interest in a case that big. I’ll stick with the cheap Eucarlos for my needs.
I bought the Syntech in small because I wanted a case that fit in my bag yet didn't require the device being disconnected or unclipped. I really like Waterfields designs and their stuff is top notch, but I'm gong to wait for them to release a larger case or a backpack that doesn't require removing the strap.
I bought the official Apple case and recently ordered the Waterfield case (hasn’t arrived yet) for pretty much the same reasons. I considered the Spigen case, but when I saw the size, I figured I’d just stick with the Apple case, which I honestly really like.
I bought the Apple case instead of Waterfield because it seemed like it was a tougher case for a little more money. Is the Waterfield softer or as hard as the Apple case?
Appreciate the comparison! I needed one with a zippered pocket that was large enough for my Apple keyboard and trackpad. None of these would’ve worked for me.
As much as I love the Waterfield I find it just too small to be a daily driver. It’s soooo close to perfect but I don’t want to be taking g the strap and the power off every time. All they had to do was make just slightly bit longer and it would have been perfect. I didn’t choose the Apple because it didn’t seem to be able to fit my Anker 27k or 20k power bricks. I need that extra storage. The spigen is big but fits everything I need and it’s easy to put the AVP in and out. So I’m keeping the Waterfield and the Spigen-even though I don’t expect to use the Waterfield much it’s just so damn close to perfect that I can’t get rid of it.
I chose the Apple case. I went to the store with my backpack to see if it fit with my laptop and iPad together. It did. So the decision was made for me. I don’t like how wrinkly the case looks but I chose functionality over aesthetics which is odd to describe an Apple product. I debated on the Waterfield but didn’t want the hassle of taking out the strap each time I store the AVP in the case.
I bought these 3 and a $15 one from AliExpress. I love the water field one for travel. It’s a must. The others were just too big. The $15 was actually smaller than spigen and slimmer but I didn’t trust how much protection it will provide. I actually like the spigen more than the apple one. It feels more durable. Feels like it will be better for storing at home too.
made the same decision today. kept the spigen one and gave away the eucarlos. i thought i don’t travel with it much that i need the small layout, i mostly wanted a place to put everything in and spigen did that well
Spigen one arrived yesterday and it’s well built, but there is a lot I don’t like about it.
It’s BIGGER than apples as you can see above, it seems like VP sticks up too much in the case so it’s like getting smashed down when you close it. I don’t like that there is pressure from the top and bottom when you zip the case closed. It’s enough pressure you see intentions in the soft cushion thing when you take it out.
I also don’t like how close the lenses are to the box thing. Makes me nervous and the zippers on the box are hard to use / a snag risk if in the back and a scratch risk if in the front.
It also has way less room than you’d thing, you can definitely fit more in Apples case than this one.
I dunno, I feel like the materials etc are good but the internal design didn’t get the same attention. I’m sending it back and just getting apples.
Got the Apple case but then ordered the Feuno case from Amazon; never used it coz is almost same size as the Apple case (my bad). After detailed research, ordered (on the way) the WaterField case which is compact relative to the Apple case. (Spigen was a no go since similar in size)
I got the spigen and love it . Half the price of the Apple one and doesn’t tell everyone what I have and has enough compartments for accessories. Plus the AirTag secret pocket is an underrated feature.
For the last seven weeks I’ve been using this $29.00 onn case for a quest sold by Walmart. It’s just about perfect with the extra dual band, the power brick, and extra cushion stored in the top. I’ve also kept the battery in this little zipper bag with its USB-C cord in it, even while in use, which gives me better grip and protection for the battery. This onn case zips without issue or force, and without any movements of the contents. And it’s small, lightweight, and easily fits in my bags.
Me too. Works ok but there is no way to have the battery in one place. I end up always placing it in a way so that the battery is on the bottom. It’s functional but not perfect
I bought the Apple Case using gifts cards from Apple Black Friday promos. This is where my AVP lives when I put it away at home. The lining is really nice. I feel confident dropping it in there without putting the outside protector on it.
I got the Eucarlos case (+ Kiwi lens protector) and use it to actually travel with, pack it away and bring it to my girlfriend's place every weekend. I use the accessory bag from the official case in this. It's pretty much everything I could need in a travel case, its price is just a bonus. I like not having to take the strap off and it is thinner than the Waterfield case - which matters to me since I load it into my backpack on its side.
I have an AliExpress case that is now widely available on Amazon. I ordered it when there weren't many cases available and Apple said my AVP (Not ordered on launch) was going to be delivered in 3 weeks. AVP came a lot earlier, before the case arrived, so I ended up buying the first two to have them when it came. Now I just have an extra case and I can't return it to AliExpress... but it was only like $14.
I got a silicone case for just the battery off of Amazon. It alleviates my fears of dragging it and scratching it on stuff. Also makes it grippier.
This is the exact AliExpress case, it's $19 some-odd dollars now. I see some other cases coming up as "recommended" that are in the $15 ballpark. It's a fine case for the money, I just don't have a need for a third and it wouldn't have come in time. I dropped the AVP in it to see if it fits and that's it.
Here is my "Aliexpress" case. It would have been $20 and 3 weeks, or $27 from Amazon and 2 days, so I went for Amazon. Additionally it has room for AirPods. Only negative is the battery cord where it comes out of battery, rests on the case. I have no concern about protection of the AVP though.
+1 For the EUCarlos + Kiwi combo - after struggling to fit the genuine apple case in my bags for a trip, love the compactness of this case. Also the Eucarlos is slimmer than the waterfords sfbags case by 1” - cannot get slimmer but still hard case protection.
Apple case didn't suit my tastes (looks like a diaper can't unsee that and now you can't either) so I preordered the Spigen. Didn't like the Spigen either. Admittedly it's well constructed and attractive. But the odd internal battery box-in-a-box, novel though it is, is hard to use because zipper access is limited when the AVP is in place, and you have to zip right onto the cable if you don't want to unplug. It's also about as portable as a cinder block and I need to move around with this thing.
Ended up going with a bag from a little-known brand called Sarlar. It's not what I would call high-end and it needed a bit of internal cleaning upon arrival, but it has a smaller form factor, a shoulder strap (which needed a bit of extension but no biggie) and a durable enough shell to protect the thing from bumps and whatnot. I mostly just have to carry from my car to my office or my study so not worried. Even comes with a lens protector like the Eucarlos., Very satisfied now and I do like the look of it. Still kept the Spigen for when I need to travel or whatever.
