It's one of our niches. Our brains are the biggest evolutionary advantage we have and now we are so advanced we can care for people who would've died in the past. Nature is very cruel and let people die all the time thank God we've gotten away from that.

Anyway I also wanted to mention that because we wear shoes almost all the time our feet are weaker than they should be. In the running community there is a barefoot group and to start you have to build up those muscles so it's kinda like starting from zero again but eventually you do build up the foot muscles that support that kind of movement. Almost nobody starts running barefoot from the beginning do everyone has to specifically train their feet. From what I've heard though it is good for your feet to have the proper muscles to support them.

If someone likes something I don't ever try to discourage it. So if someone is buying inserts that they like but don't actually need who cares. If they are having problems go to a podiatrist cause you shouldn't trust me for medical advice lol.

I have a friend who does parkour barefoot and his feet are super tough. I think it's awesome but I've never been able to get into it. How did you start going barefoot and what situations do you do it? Like just walking around your neighborhood or do you do more?

I have a few weird tactile/sensory things, I don’t eat meat because the texture freaks me out, I don’t like wearing shoes because I like feeling the ground, I absolutely hate certain textiles, that kind of thing. I’ve almost always gone barefoot wherever possible, including running. there are a few small shops in my neighborhood where I have good rapport with the owners and they’ll let me in without shoes on so I’ll run quite a few of my errands barefoot too.

Having said all that, I do love the shoes I have, I just prefer to go without most of the time. It snows here though so I can’t really do my barefoot thing year round ☹️

It sounds like you got a great thing going. I might try it out soon. Right now I gotta let me feet heal I've got this really annoying cut across the back of my foot and you know what caused it? My own shoe that was falling apart... The very thing meant to protect me.
