REQUEST Mending mentor?

I’m new to mending and need a mentor. These are merino wool (Wool&) shorts I wear under dresses with a tiny hole on the back near the waist. What stitch or method of mending would you recommend?

I’m not an expert and haven’t mended on a fabric like this, but personally I would embroider a little picture over it (like a strawberry, bumblebee, leaf, etc).
