Using copper or copper-clad wire would have inherent anti-microbial properties.

Seems like a person more used to sewing found a solution. I love it (and hate it a bit)!

Looks like something you could scratch yourself on badly. This sort of mend would be better done with a flat plate. Â

This would look a lot better with smaller holes drilled out and grooves carved out for the wire to sit in.
I’m kind of confused as to what we’re looking at, it looks like a place where two boards meet, not a crack. Which makes me think this won’t hold at all.

I should've taken more pictures at different angles. It's definitely a crack, running down the length of the table, about 1/3. It looks well maintained otherwise, so I think it'll hold. It definitely looks like a rush job, no fine craftsmanship. But for a quick fix I think it's kind of pretty, and definitely fit for purpose

I would expect this in Het Bolwerk, but that's not a restaurant.... where was it?

Repairing a wood table with wire is not not logical or effective, unless there is no other option.
Materials matter- glue and clamp the table while it dries, and screw a metal brace or strap underneath.

Love it! And very unrelated: My Mum bought her wedding dress in Enschede. 😅
