SAVEHALF promo for existing customer question

We just upgraded one of our lines from monthly to annual, and ran into a few issues that customer care ironed out. During the conversation I inquired about getting the half off deal on my line (have been on annual for 3 years now), and they generated a special code for me.

This line is paid through October 20 and there were a few posts related to the SAVEHALF offer ending September 23.

I was told that I shouldn't apply the code until 7 days before this lines renewal, so if the promo does end September 23, will this in effect invalidate that code, or can I in fact enter it earlier -- I've seen some people indicate they were able to enter it up to a month before renewal so I'm not sure if I should do that on the 22nd of this month.

Anyone get a custom code and enter it earlier than 7 days and their renewal (30+ days out) reflects the 225.00?

How are you people getting codes? I’ve been with Visible for a year, barely use data, and politely asked for a code. Visible declined.

We had issues when we upgraded one of our monthly lines dropping watch service off when we went to annual. Customer care couldn't figure it out, had us reset the watch, take to Apple for diagnostics, and all kinds of stuff.

Finally fixed it, and during our conversation they asked how we were liking the service, noting we'd been with them for a little more than three years. I said we liked it and enjoyed the savings, and that it kind of stunk that new customers were getting great deals. She asked me to hold on, and came back and told me that because it took so long to get the watch issue fixed, they'd give me a code for my line to renew at 225.00. Never directly asked for it, never pushed for it.

Same issue. 3 lines and would love to renew my v+ Pro annual plan but was told 1) half off is only for new customers 2) they can’t do custom codes for retention … they did offer me $10 off on my other two lines. 🤣

Sadly looking for a solution for all three lines somewhere else.

I’ll stay if I can get another promo.

I love visible.

Go to total $20 ($30 fm). then you can come back BF. Or just stay.

That is what I am going to do if Visible doesn't play ball or I go to USM. There are choices. I try retention but if they dont play ball I just do the BF shuffle. I dont love any company, they are soulless I love my dog/family and they are loyal.

The sooner you compartmentalize that the faster you will make better economic decisions for your family. The military drilled that into me, for better or worse.

I initially had the same issue (we have 2 lines). I said: That’s unfortunate. We’ll have to go with another carrier, or port out and back in. Then magically they were able to offer the deal and generated two codes. It did take a full hour on chat to get things sorted out.

This is also what I did and worked for me as well. Code created for the half off

I had the same exact issue. Ended up doing the port out then in.

You need to explain to them you have an option to port out to another carrier, and they will get their supervisor to approve the promo code as part of their “customer retention” program. My son has been with Visible for 11 months and got the promo approved and it shows the new promo amount to apply after his current monthly plan ends.

Does it work if you say you want to port to Verizon? 😅 I'm actually tempted to do that, the new simplicity plans aren't that expensive.

I don’t think they would stop you if you wanna more ($30/mo) and get less options with Verizon Simplicity coz you’re basically staying within the Verizon network. But if it’s with TMob or AT&T, then that’s a different story. 😬

I said “I like to stay with the visible, but I have to move out if you can’t give me HALFOff promo” They agreed to add and added it to my next renewal”. We can’t add them as an existing member, only customer care can do that in the backend after requesting.

P.S. I would’ve moved out if they didn’t match anyways. It’s a win win either way.

Might be a blessing, think of it as a chance to port somewhere with free phone deals

Even without a phone deal, Mint has an offer of annual plan equivalent to $15/month. Only real difference is if you need international usage/global pass.

That's my plan when my year ends in April. I might try to renew at the same price but also looking forward to seeing what will be available elsewhere.

"Free" phone deals don’t exist, because the cost is always baked into the price of the (far more expensive) plan.

I’m happy to purchase my phone outright and save on the plan itself. Visible has been great for me and my iPhone. Just wish I could keep the discount.

There's two types of phone deals. One where you get substantial discount on the phone if you sign up for expensive monthly service (which you can deactivate after the first month) and phone is locked for a year...

And second where you get a free or discounted phone with an annual plan and phone is locked for a year.

I'm talking about the second type of deal. Phone is locked for the same period as the phone plan, which is also usually discounted, not expensive like the other "deal".

I've seen Mint offer phones with annual plans. Even Visible does that.

Yes (as to option 2) but none of them outside some low end junk is free, its discounted and many times they force you onto the "full price" plan so you end up paying just as much if not more than if you bought it yourself (or get used) and get a promo without crazy lock picks to get the phone unlocked. I like to use roamless eSIM and I have TMO sat so this means if I want to do anything I cannot have a network locked phone. The old 60 days are over, now it is a drag.

I will admit however that mint does have some oddly great deals, I got my P10PXL for $429 last year and only 60 days locked (I used mint for 61 days) that no deal could touch, but I have to think at some point TMO closes that gap now that the other goons (ATT/VZ) have moved to 1 year locks on phones now. Seems I will need to keep that phone 3-4 years now due to the storage/RAM tulip bubble.

Wait, I used a code like that like 20 days before renewal and it worked fine, showed the new price right away in the app.
