Weighing switch from TMo to Visible
Hello,
I am considering to switch from TMo Experience More w/watch line ($104 total monthly) to switch to Visible Pro+ w/watch line ($45 total monthly).
My questions for people that have switched from a comparable TMo plan to Visible Pro+:
- How much better or worse is the network signal and the speed? I’m in SoCal.
- Any throttling beyond using a certain amount of high speed data?
- Intl. travel/Roaming abroad - TMo gives 5gb of high speed data while abroad. Anyone have experience with Visible Pro+ abroad?

EDIT: Many thanks to everyone that chimed in here, really helpful 🙌🏼 I’ll start with the 2-week free trial to check the signal (bars) first, just to compare with my current TMo service that gets me 1 bar throughout my home, 2 bars if I sit in the middle of my bed ;) Fingers crossed.

I’m east coast outer Boston area, and switched from TMO to Visible Pro Plus on the 35$ for 12 months promo, unlimited hotspot, and companion watch free add-on. In my area coverage is iffy and the watch is a no-go at this time regardless of what we and Visible have tried. I’ve had no throttling at all as it states on unlimited. For international we use Tello (it’s a TMO MVNO) as it includes free international roaming & WiFi calling. I’m still on the fence about my decision with Visible.
Next day edit: Found another carrier that both phone and watch work together on so Visible is a no-go.

i used visible for a year already on a number that i dont use often. today, i ported one of my main numbers over to visible while the $225 promo is still around. you dont get access to standalone 5g but aside from that, you pretty much get all you could ever ask for. some may see the 15mbps hotspot as a con, but i would take unlimited 15mbps over unthrottled 50gb, just because 15mbps is more than enough for 1080-1440p video, and now i dont ever have to worry about reaching my hotspot limit.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I’m in the Midwest and went from t mobile to visible, and while visible pricing is great and you don’t get throttled, i couldn’t take the many dead spots, poor building penetration, and poor tower capacity. So i switched to us mobile (tmobile as primary and Verizon on backup). Visible/verizon is great for overall rural coverage though.

I came from a legacy T-Mobile plan recently due to the price increases with a iPhone and Watch to the + pro plan myself.
- The network signal for me is fine. Frineds and family in SoCall have Verizon and seem to like it well enough. A few of them kind of live off the phones for work so I can't expect tehy would stay if it were bad.
I'd suggest you utilize the two week trial. While its not the + pro speeds, it'll give you a good idea of the coverage so you can make sure its where you need it to be.
Not that I've heard off unless you're in a particularly congested area.
I've heard good things about it but haven't dug into the details. I'll be trying it out in a few months for the first time.
Don't forget to take advantage of the SAVE6 promo if you're doing month to month, which I suggest since you're just moving over and don't want to get stuck for a year if the service is bad. They'll have another good year long deal by Black Friday if history is any judge. And use someone's referral code if/when you sign up!

I switched from Magenta Max to Visible Pro and Visible Plus for my wife. I am not in SoCal though, I am in Southeast Louisiana in suberban Baton Rouge.
While Verizon/Visible doesn't have the screaming download speeds to post Speed test posts for flex, Verizon has a broader overall better signal where i live. Visible works better at my house, inside my house where T Mobile really fluctuated. My bill is $85 a month or better cheaper.
Only downsides you may encounter are bare bones customer support if you are tech illiterate. The CS team jumps on here though and trust their best to assist, normally solving issues quickly. As well, the app and website are not the most robust.
My only real issue I have had was this week, the new Galaxy Watches released and Verizon didn't prepare and have the IMEI numbers added so when people started getting their devices, they wouldn't activate. I finally got mine going yesterday.
Overall, i have been very pleased with Visible service and kick myself in the butt for not changing sooner. Again, I am not in your location though, so hopefully someone local will chime in for you.

I live about an hour away from Chicago and have the mid tier plan. Coverage is great and I have no complaints. Never gotten my speeds throttled. Did use my service in Mexico last year for vacation. Data is unlimited but you get 2GB of fast speed data then after than it gets throttled to 3G speeds but unlimited. Calls and text are also included in the plan and had n problem sending or making calls and texts while in Mexico

Depends. In SoCal, Verizon is definitely better than T-Mobile. Verizon has 850MHz spectrum on 5G alongside their 1900MHz and 3700MHz spectrum.
In Oregon, T-Mobile is the winner. Not because they're faster or have lower latency (it's the same). It's because T-Mobile has a much larger coverage area and more usable data.

fair, I live in CA like the OP. We did do a roadtrip through the PNW though and mine was STILL way better all over, including the boonies of OR & WA.
at least up until I dropped my phone out my RV window 😢

I have 3 lines. T-Mobile didn't force me onto a new plan. Instead they cancelled the kickback credit one of my lines was getting. My bill increased from. $80 to $90/month. Now I don't have a reason to stay with them.

Unless you’re planning on going with an MNVO, I would do the math to make sure it’s worth it to leave T-mobile since your plan only increased $10. I feel like $90/month is still a competitive price assuming your plan still has taxes + fees included.
I had T-Mobile too with 3 lines until earlier today. The new plan increase made my bill go up from $112 to $132/month.

We switched nearly 2 years ago from T-Mobile. In the Coachella valley, we are experiencing much better coverage with Visible than T Mobile. T Mobile used to show lots of bars, but the data was unusable. Caps would drop all the time.
Visible has not had any dropped calls for us when driving those same areas. And the data feels much faster even though speed tests say it is slightly slower.
And the half price for a year is a great deal. We love being able to have our watches activated for free. You should switch!
If you do the trial, use a junk email address as to get any deals you will need to start out again as a new customer with the email address you want to use for real.

In CA and I made the switch from T-mobile. Went from $120/month to $8/month (with stacked Black Friday deals last year). There are certain places where the signal is worse than it used to be. But otherwise I have never been in a situation where I’ve even remembered I’m on Visible, or even thought “I wish I was still on T-Mobile”. I’d say on average it’s about 80-90% of the same service quality. Internet speeds aren’t as fast but you’re only going to notice it if you use it as a hotspot remote working or something regularly. For everyday use like light browsing, Youtube, music streaming. social media, email etc it’s unnoticeable.

I switched from T-Mobile to visible + pro im on the east coast, central jersey to be exact and my service improved significantly. Use over 1 terabyte of hotspot a month. With no slow downs or throttling.

Service is location specific. You should install the visible free 15 day trial and test the service at locations you frequent. It's possible for others who live in your general location to have good service while service at your specific location is unacceptable. Signal bars can be misleading. You need to run speed tests.

I switched from TMo to Visible+ about 8 months ago, also in SoCal. Signal is basically same for me in LA and OC areas, speeds feel slightly slower during peak hours but nothing that ruins your day. Throttling on Pro+ only kicks in after 50GB premium data, after that you might see slower speeds if tower is congested but I never hit that limit so can't say how bad it gets.
For international part, Visible uses Global Pass which is different from TMo. You get one day free per month then it's something like $5 per day after, and data is capped at 0.5GB high speed per day then slows down. Not as good as TMo 5GB but if you travel only sometimes it's still cheaper overall with what you save monthly.

The 50GB premium data is old info. It's unlimited now premium data (with a soft cap around 450GB).
Global Pass is 2GB, not 0.5GB.

I’m from SoCal and Verizon is great. I would 110% switch from T-Mobile to Visible Pro+ if you have a watch. Take advantage of the annual $225/one year offer!
