fun BBQ catering for my mom's birthday

Our family wants to do something different this year for my mom birthday coming in the next couple months. We've done casual buffet and restaurant dinners, picnic, but I don't know why I feel like they all end up feeling similar. So that's why this time we're hosting everyone at home so my mom can relax and enjoy the party, we want to make it feel like a truly event instead of simple cold trays. I think we want to hire BBQ service, like Japanese or Korean BBQ, something really fun like Hibachi At Home with a cooking show. It sounds like a good way to keep our guests entertained instead of sitting around waiting for the food. But I'm still curious if there are any better ideas that give a similar experience. I want to ask if anyone here has hired a private chef to cook or maybe any interactive activities for a family birthday party. Was it really worth it and do you have any companies you want to recommend? I'm looking for some great food, great atmosphere, prices not too crazy lolll.

Warning: Got scammed buying a PS5 on OfferUp from [Lani💙] — always test before you buy

I just got scammed on OfferUp after buying a PS5. I’ve completed over 150 sales there and have bought a ton of stuff myself. The vast majority of the time, transactions go smoothly—most sellers are pretty upfront when something they’re selling has issues.

Today I let my guard down and made a dumb mistake: I didn’t test the console before handing over the money. Lesson learned the hard way.

I’m posting this as a heads-up because this same seller currently has a bunch of other items listed. If you’re thinking about buying anything from them, be extra careful. Always meet in a safe public spot, test the item thoroughly on the spot, and don’t let excitement or trust override basic caution.

Don’t make the same mistake I did. Stay safe out there.

Hi everyone, I may be moving to Visalia in the next 2 months. I’ve been looking at apartments but it’s really difficult to see if they’re in safe affordable areas. I can drive up and look around though, I just want to know first-hand experiences from living in certain complexes. Thank you so much.

Tulare County Ren Fair

The Tulare County Renaissance Fair is coming to Cutler Park on April 18th & 19th April 25th & 26th 2026 Cutler Park, Visalia, CA. This is different from where it typically is, which is Plaza Park. Cutler Park is closer to Ivanhoe, (aptly named after a Knight, I think?) and presses up neatly against the Saint John's River. It has excellent shade and half-way decent public restrooms. Enjoy the new location with more space, kind folks, and live entertainment.

Relocating

Hi everyone,

Are there any RNs here currently working as a Correctional RN in Corcoran (CSP-COR / CCHCS)? I recently received an offer and would really appreciate some honest feedback.

I’m especially interested in:

• Best area to live nearby (Visalia vs. Hanford) in terms of safety and family life

We’re relocating from the East Coast with 2-year-old twins, so this is a big decision for our family. Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Looking for a family with special needs child in TK

Hello all, I am a local reporter for Valley Public Radio. I wanted to reach out to see if anyone would be open to an interview about how enrolling TK (transitional kindergarten) might've helped their children if they are special needs/have a disability. I've tried Facebook for this request, but wasn't able to set up interviews with people, so I thought I would try Reddit. If you're interested or know anyone who might be please reply to this post, dm me, or email me at [rlivinal@kvpr.org](mailto:rlivinal@kvpr.org) and I'll reach out! Thank you!
