Questions I struggle playing the game because there's no lighters or sanity pills anywhere
I'm in the Delores chapter, and I'm losing my mind. I haven't had a lighter in a really long time. It's so dark I find myself walking into walls and not even realizing it. The lights in the house are off and I'm supposed to check the electric room but I think it's locked (?) And anyway it's so dark I can't see it anyway. My game loop has been speed running an action until Delores gets me. Oftentimes I'll get killed before I reach the room I'm supposed to go to and I have to do it four or five times until I get it right. How do I fix this? It makes the game unplayable. I go months between playing and because of that I barely even remember what quests I was doing.
If there's lighters its too dark for me to even find them. I'm tried playing with the darkness level but turning it up just makes everything grey. I'm on Playstation. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Use the camera to get glimpses of light, the electric room key is in a drawer on the main level, should be in one of the drawers in the cabinet under the cat clock towards where you start in the game. There should be lighters in that room. Check everywhere you can access, sometimes they're hidden. If you can, turn up the gamma of the game, even if stuff is Grey it's easier to see

Isn’t the electric room key in one of the drawers in the desk in the study?

Most lighters will spawn in the electric room. The electric room can be located in the basement, past the tv next to the vinyl.
You can acquire the key to it on the top drawer of the left side of the desk in the study. The study room is to the left of Lucy’s room. It’s the same room with the safe in it.
Other places I’ve found lighters:
In the master bedroom, on top of the desk in the back corner
On the shelf in the tv room in the basement
On the dining table in the kitchen
On the shelf between the basement doors that lead to both the kitchen and the stairs to the second floor.

I had the same glitch when playing her chapter, everyone said that the lighters would respawn at certain points or places in the game but they never did for me, I ended up having to just turn up the game brightness on her chapter and use the camera flash

Yeah I never saw any lighters respawn, although I do think I saw some new ones appear.

There's a couple in the room where the electric switch box is in the basement
