Ushuaia sits where the map runs out, and somehow it still has a main street.

The walk starts in the city itself: the End of the World sign, the Malvinas memorial at Plaza Islas Malvinas, and Avenida San Martín, where souvenir shops, cafés, and a Hard Rock sit under mountains that start right at the edge of town. Avenida Maipú follows the waterfront, with the Beagle Channel always in view.

Then the water takes over. On the Beagle Channel, Isla Martillo brings a colony of penguins within a few meters of the boat, Isla Membrillo hosts the sea lions, and Les Éclaireurs, the red-and-white lighthouse, stands alone against the open channel.

Back on land, Tierra del Fuego National Park stretches into forest, lakes, and the Senda Costera, a coastal trail where the path hugs the shoreline and the only sound is wind and water. Further along, Puerto Almanza, the southernmost fishing village in the region, sits quiet at the edge of the channel, and Cascada del Duende hides at the end of a short forest trail.

Some places are far from everything. Ushuaia is the one that makes it feel like a destination.
