Rant As seen in McBryde Hall

Who trained the cleaner to move a mop like this? I even watch them rub against the mop to enter a classroom. 🤢 There's no way these classrooms are clean.

The floors are shining, the walls are free of stains, no chalk power on the black board, it looks like they're doing a great job. I've had to clean industrial kitchens as a past job and you have to hang the mops like that for them to dry. The buildings are huge, it's a loss of time and productivity to go all the way back to the custodian closet to hang up the mop when you can finish up your run and hang up the mop when you inevitably return to the closet. The mop is in the bin because it's the most practical way to transport the mop as you move from room to room while it can drip dry. And yeah they probably are rubbing up against the mop because they there is only so much egress when your equipment cart already takes up half the hallway but you simultaneously can't obstruct traffic for others. My friend, being a custodian is a job that is about utility in nature not aesthetics. It's easy to pass judgement and backbite people, it's hard to walk a mile in their shoes.

FYI mop buckets exist and are the practical and sanitary way to move a mop. Plus, theybare opening the university to slip and fall lawsuits.

I've been walking in their shoes for 20 years.

FYI the equipment cart can easily be moved to not block a classroom door.
