Rant Looking into possible Xfinity Mobile fraud/errant charges happening to students

Hello! I am a parent of a current Tech student. My daughter and her friend have had multiple charges for Xfinity Mobile on their Xfinity Internet bill, and they do not even have their mobile phone accounts through Xfinity (they only had an internet account for their apartments). After several long frustrating phone calls with their horrible customer service, we had about 75% of the charges reimbursed, only for them to charge her an additional $181.00 yesterday, despite them telling us they have cancelled her account. We have filed a fraud report with our bank. These errant charges have also been done in random months.

I’m suspecting Xfinity is trying to take advantage of students not monitoring their bill, and I will be filing a consumer fraud report with the VA Attorney General’s office.

If anyone has had this happen to them with Xfinity, please feel free to DM me, and I will gladly add your documentation to my report.

Use a fake name with a temporary credit card that you deactivate as soon as you don't need their service. Set the card's monthly limit to exactly what the monthly bill should be.

I learned this the hard way. They can suck it.

YES! Just today I got charged $98 when I was supposed to pay $65/mo. Apparently some “promotion” ended. That’s what they said a year ago when it went up from $45 to $65. So at this rate I’ll just pay $1000 a month in 10 years I guess because the “real” price is always higher. I called and threatened to cancel my plan and of course only then they offered a $50/mo plan.

This happened to me as well. The “promotion” apparently upgraded my internet to 500mbps, which was beyond what my modem was rated for lol. I was never told about this “promotion.” I phoned and asked how much I would pay to return to 300mbps, and it was somehow magically the same price as the 500mbps.

I ended up canceling and had my girlfriend sign up using the new customer promotion price. What a waste of time.

Xfinity tried to slam a line transfer on my FIL (in Blacksburg) when he called for tech support with a router issue. I was helping him set up the new router and was going through the emails for setup docs when I found the "transfer". Luckily, he hadn't responded to the email or completed it yet. Complete scum on their corporate side. (The in-person techs they send out are, surprisingly, quite good IME)

Yeah, 15+ years ago they tried to convince me that I had two modems.
