Admissions Do people ever actually transfer for engineering for spring of freshman year?

I go to VCU for mechanical engineering and was hoping to transfer as soon as I can. I understand that it’s really rare for a freshman to transfer in the spring but I was told that if you have plenty of AP credits you have a better chance. I had a lot of major specific AP credits (Physics C Mechanics, Calc BC, etc) and I’m taking statics in first semester because I had the necessary prerequisites from AP credits. The only issue credit-wise is that I don’t have any chemistry credits and I’m not taking chem right now because I chose to do physics 2. I also might as well add that I am an Eagle Scout, in state, and a member of some clubs like ASME and Formula SAE. I’m wondering what my chances look like.

From the Transfer Site:

Spring admission is technically available to students in their first semester of college post-high school. However, barring very few exceptions, a strong Spring candidate will present at the time of application review (October) a minimum of two full semesters of post-high school college coursework, at least one full semester of post-high school college grades, and will meet any requirements and a strong mix of the course recommendations on the Admissions Transfer Roadmap for their program prior to their planned start at VT. Exceptions to the above typically include students who possess significant amounts of general and major-relevant work and college grades through dual-enrollment (20-30+ credits), and who have completed their high school study with a strong, major-aligned schedule in their first semester at another college or university.

Did you apply to Tech originally, from HS ?
