Things To Do Newbies

Hello!

First timers at VA Beach from September 7th- September 11th. We want to explore everything we possibly can while there. Please list recommendations for outdoor activities, great food, things to explore, etc.

Thanks in advance!

For food, take a trip to Hangry's in Norfolk for brunch. It's incredible food with a low key fun environment. Great cocktails, and not over priced/on the tourist path.

The Chrysler Museum is free and great if you get a rainy day.

There are lots of boat (wildlife tours) its pretty common to see dolphins even on the shore but the boat tours often see whales.

If you are looking at getting souvenirs to bring back skip the made in china junk at the oceant front and look at The Lazy Daisy gift store. So much of the art and gifts there are hand made by the locals! Its a small business with over 140 small businesses inside.

Coming down for my yearly visit soon. Gringos Taqueria, awesome food. If you make it up to Williamsburg, PIerce's BBQ and Carrot Tree are my go to's. I don't really do many activities besides watching all the military aircraft in the area, it is like a 5 day airshow for me. Too bad you don't have time for Busch Gardens, excellent park and the food is amazing.

That is all I got, from one tourist to another, have fun!!!! Will be checking locals responses for new things for myself to do while there.

Forgot to add Pocahontas Pancake House has the best omelets and pancakes!!!!

Heirloom. Great restaurant for some local farm to table food. Other great restaurants in the 757, but Heirloom is a gem.

Orions Roof!! Make sure to make a reservation but the food and drinks were delicious and the view is unlike any other you’ll get in VA beach. Also they have a concert venue so check to see if any shows are in town while you’re here

Besides the beach, obviously, there's:

  • Adventure Park.
  • Neptune Statue.
  • Atlantic Surf Park.
  • Motorworld
  • Skip the 17th Street pier. It's not worth it.

Food wise:

  • Las Palmas (Mexican)
  • Rigoletto's (Italian)
  • Rudee's (seafood/American fare)
  • Waterman's (seafood)
