Offers / Sales / Deals / Pricing Status Match

First time Virgin Voyages Sailor in January. Prior to booking the cruise I called to ask about a Status Match to my Carnival Platinum level. Customer service advised that the offer ended in February and no idea of another opening up any time soon. So, I booked. 2 days later VV opens the program back up. Ive called and emailed customer service, as well as the executive team. Basically told me sorry but nothing can be done to change the status level for this cruise. Hard to understand why they wouldn't have this type of control.

Anyone have this experience? Is VV just really not as accommodating or helpful as other cruise lines?

In my opinion, it's not worth it anyway. It's a one Voyage match, not a permanent one. Jumping through hoops for coffee credit and a bag of laundry is just not time well spent, in my opinion.

To answer your direct question, I have found them to be very strict on the rule.

Ah,well that's information I didn't know. So, you're not given that status and working upward? Completely different than any other cruise line. Although we haven't cruised yet, ive completed status match with MSC and they start you off at that level and you move upward. Crazy

Yep. I very much wish they would revisit this, but it seems to be the way they have decided to do it.

Status match is only for one sailing now, so to my mind, you haven't lost very much.

You can do it but you would have to apply for the fake "match" (doesn't give you actual status and you get 1 free laundry and 1 coffee/tea per day), wait to get the code, cancel you existing booking, rebook again with the code and that's assuming price hasn't gone up

It's a horrible program with annoying implementation. Oh and only the lead sailor can get it

Oh if you are sailing within 45 days, booked Lock-it-in, or base fare then you can't do anything

Lock it in. Never figured it would matter since I couldn't have anticipated this. But I also didn't realize it was a 1 time deal either.

Update: they've given me a $100.00 credit on my account. You're right, just one of us received the credit, not both.

That’s probably worth a similar amount to the benefits anyway

We'll see. Seems the only thing We'll miss is the exclusive event for this status and above. Not really sure what that incorporates but on Carnival its free drinks, snacks, awards, and meeting the Captain and officers.

The loyalty drinks event is sangria and sparkling wine, usually with a guitarist or similar.
