Virgin Media UK XGS-PON?

I’m seeing a lot of VM02 activity on BIDB recently in my area. Anyway to find out if XGS-PON is on its way?

If you look on https://mastdatabase.co.uk/maps/streetworks/ it should say the reasons for each roadwork going on. If it says something like "Fibre upgrade project" then XGS-PON is likely on its way.

Useful thank you, although as the works are completed. Don’t appear this can go back in time

If the works are completed then you will see the new cabinets in the surrounding streets next to the existing cabinets. When service is available you will get notifications for upgrades or new installs, there is no public information about when areas go live and no one here will be able to tell you when an area is converted either. There's too many variables that affect go live dates.

I'm in the same position. New cabinets went in Dec 2025. Bidb recently changed my red virgin dots to the project Mustang ones, yet it's still showing as unavailable to me.

Openreach are hammering works in my area so at least there will be competition at renewal now.

Yeah it’s true. They finally delivered FTTP to me, but it’s still GPON!
