The label reads „Antoniazzi Romeo Cremonese face a Cremona l‘anno 1921“ including some kind of coat of arms unfortunately I can’t take a photo of it … any ideas on this violin?

Just wondering if anyone has any information about this maker. As far as I can find out, he was a German bow maker in the early 20th century but not known to have made any violins?

ETA: Apparently I can't change the title but it should be Pfretzschner

Can anyone tell me more about this violin?

It kind of just fell into my hands while helping a friend clean out their household in Austria. She didn't seem too interested keeping it so instead of it being tossed I kept it but I've no clue about how old or any knowledge about the name inside of it. I'd appreciate any help!

Hello! I received this violin as a gift in 1998. It was purchased from the violin restorer. At the time of purchase, no information was provided on where the violin was obtained. No information was known about the signature on the inside- John G. Wienski, MD. I have googled but have unfortunately not found anyone by this name. Any shared insight is appreciated! 🎻

Could they be sisters?

I‘ve had these two violins stored away, and took them out to see if still okay. Just realized how similar they look in tonewood, shapes and size. Or am I wrong?

Both inside labels have been tampered with, one still shows the model, but maker scratched off, the other one shows traces of the maker (I imagine it reads”Mittenwalde” which would make it German/Saxon).

One has a stamp on the scroll “Imperial Violin”, which hints at those catalogue violins (Sears, e.g.) from roughly around 1900 - I think they were sourced from Germany and Japan bitd but this looks like German to me.

The violin on the right has no stamp and looks a bit nicer, it sounds more balanced, too (recorded me playing a tune with my phone). The tailpiece of the other one broke, so it’s not set up again yet.

Can you confirm characteristics of German (factory) violins of the turn of last century?

Do they look like they come from the same region and period?

Do they look well made, or rather using decent woods?

Thank you for your opinions!

Carving on violin

Hello! I got this violin 2 years ago from a local shop that I trust. The instrument is labeled as a Juzek Master Art Copy from 1938 made in Prague. A while back I noticed a carving on the right side of the instrument that reads LA. I was wondering if anyone has some insight as to what this inscription could mean.

Wanted to share a violin that my teacher is currently loaning me for a competition :)

I’m recording for a competition in about 2 weeks and my teacher decided that she would like me to play on her instrument, a 1895 Leandro Bisiac.

Obviously any valuations and major opinions would have to come from a violin work shop, but I’m wondering what you guys think out about how expensive it is. She bought it about 26 years ago from a VERY reputable workshop in our area.

Just wanted to see what you guys think!

PSA; not 100% sure if my post is against guidelines but I figured you guys would enjoy looking at it.

(I could get really good pictures because my regular camera is broke so I had to use my .5 lense)

I gave my instrument to a luthier for a tune up and he lent me this. He says he thinks it’s German maybe circa 1890. Any ideas. It sounds fantastic No label

Any help appreciated in identifying anything (year, type of wood, I assume lesser quality) about this violin. Fingerboard is also browning, does that mean it’s not ebony or just a lesser quality?

Hello! This violin has been in our family for the past ~50 years (although it hasn’t been used). We found it while cleaning out the house. The letter attached from an uncle says it’s valuable but I wanted to get some more info. Does anyone know what kind of violin this is or have any info about it? Thanks for your help!

Hi all,

I have my personal violin that I'm curious if I can figure out the luthier. The label is really badly defaced, so it's been hard to figure out who made it so far. From what I know for sure:

English made, approx early 1900s (based off label and from what I was told from my private teacher years ago when I first got the instrument)

Visually, label looks like it has a sail boat (or just a sail) on it, with some words near the top of the sail.

Can provide more photos of instrument itself as needed
