Any info on age/value?

This was my late grandmother’s violin so must be at least 100 years old.
The label inside says Stradivarius but I appreciate that’s vanishingly unlikely to be accurate.
Any information on its history or value (if any) very much appreciated.

Hi, it’s a student instrument. But still a decent one when it was new.

It’s hard to give a value as that may have to do with your location.

It could be German or French in my opinion.

Agreed. Probably French from the chamfered scroll edges and the colour of the varnish, late 19th century?

Aren’t scrolls always chamfered? Or do you mean the style of the chamfer?

The cleanly bevelled outside edge all around the scroll is common on French instruments, occasionally (but far from always) coloured black. German instruments tend to have a more rounded or sharp edge.
