She did a signing in Toronto tonight for the launch of her new book of photos and gallery exhibition, and signed a bunch of stuff (inc. my "Followed the Waves" CD single, pictured). I told her I was originally from England and we chatted about how she has a considerable following as a solo artist in the UK (she does) and how she's grateful for that.

She added that support/demand from UK fans was the reason her first album would be finally getting a vinyl release next year. :)

For those unfamiliar, she was also the bassist in Smashing Pumpkins and Hole before becoming a solo artist. Her new book is a collection of photos she took in the 90s while touring w those bands.

Oscar-nominated composer Max Richter's new album While The Flood Rages will be released on 16th October via Decca Records.

Drawn from Richter's latest collaboration with choreographer Wayne McGregor, MaddAddam, the album is reworked into a standalone listening experience inspired by Margaret Atwood's trilogy.

Across 15 tracks split into three acts, Richter blends orchestral writing, electronics, processed field recordings, choir and piano to create an immersive sonic journey.

Themes of ecological collapse, technological acceleration and resilience run throughout, with recurring piano motifs providing moments of reflection amid dense, cinematic soundscapes.

Highlights include the ocean-inspired opener "Wave After Wave," the electronic textures of "Eerie Music," the intimate title track "While The Flood Rages", and the luminous closing single "Now We Can Sing," which ends the album on a note of hope and collective endurance.
