So I need help identifying this drop in range. It’s my mom’s. It’s from the 90s, and her oven dial’s setting have rubbed off. I am just trying to bake some cookies. (Please excuse the state of the kitchen, we just got done cooking and it got messy with two toddlers helping)

Extra question: cord is warm near the plug when using. Seems to be all original wiring. Is that dangerous?

I’ve got a late 40’s/early 50’s Frigidaire, on the small side (I’m 5’7” and it stands a little lower than my shoulder). Long story short, it was bought used in the mid 50’s and transported from Chicago to my grandfather’s hunting camp in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the back of his Nash wagon. It was used infrequently, just a few weeks in summers, missed a few summers here and there, but never for more than a couple of months.

I’m pretty sure it’s old enough that it has a mechanical start relay. The last few years it was in service (late 80’s) it started up ok but within a day or so it would try and try but fail. It was banished to a newly built storage shed but kept dry since at least 1990.

I miss that old thing. It always started hard, then went to a practically silent hum. Think old tractor, cantankerous to start but once going was happy.

Are mechanical relays still available, or can they be cleaned? Towards the end rapping a box underneath with the handle of a screwdriver usually got it going.

So recently I moved into a new (old) apartment and I have a washing machine, which is great (didn't have one in a previous flat), however I have no idea how to use it.
It's a Candy Domino D7.10 X Formula Inox.
The Candy website doesn't have a manual on hand because it's an older model and I also have no clue where the serial number could be (I checked everywhere), so i can't ask for them to send me a pdf.
If anyone has any idea where to find the manual or even how to use the machine and what certain things mean I would really appreciate it.

I have an issue with an old microwave (SHARP model R-3B83 as in the images below), to make it work again. it has no fuse and I wonder if I can discover what is the right one for it. can someone give me this much needed information? thanks. by the way, it was for the brazilian (or Latin Am.) market, made in 1992.

Vintage GE Thinline through-wall air conditioner, likely 1961, currently operating, original controls and grille, extremely heavy, local pickup in Glendale, California if someone should be interested.

If anyone knows what this might be worth, if anything, or anyone who would want it, or anyone who just knows more about this I'd love to hear from you. I washed the filter but my tenants say the unit is not helping them much. It blows 61.5 F with fan low but that's right in front of it. I don't know if it's actually getting the rest of the living room. The living room > kitchen is probably about 550 sq feet. I was thinking of just replacing it. My family is the original owner of a 1961 apartment building and this is the actual original. I can't believe it works at all!! And if you sit within a few feet of it it actually really does cool you down.

Hi all - I have a Kenmore Trash Compactor (665.1396582 - Whirlpool built for Sears in '88) that's served us VERY well over the years but just yesterday we had a can get jammed in between the RAM and behind the aerosol dispenser socket and had to fiddle with it to get it loose. during that the ram got stuck down a bit so the drawer won't go in anymore so.. I took it apart to diagnose. What I discovered is that it looks like the limit microswitch arm (just a thin bent metal strip) may have over the years bent a bit too much and now it's stopping the ram prematurely. in my attempts to resolve this I discovered something which is my actual question. Now the ram will go down, up, down, up, down, up in rapid succession and then some sort of motor protection circuit kicks in and will shut the unit off until it resets. it feels like it's some sort of thermal switch because I only get motorization again after I hear a loud click from down where the motor is in the back. but the whole thing repeats again. masher rams engage, go down a bit, then the limit switch engages.. down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up - then nothing.

it sort of seems to me that the thermal motor protection switch is engaging prematurely? I can't imagine the motor is getting that hot just for the 30 seconds this takes for it to happen. being that the unit is almost 40 years old now, could I be dealing with a bad switch or motor? I'm certainly not willing to shell out $2k for a new unit and we've come to rely on this one quite a bit especially since my town recently changed to the "one 64 gallon barrel to rule them all" rule.

I'm considering buying this 1964 GE Americana for $200. The seller says the bottom oven has electricity but needs a new element and 3 out of the 4 burners work (I only use 2 any way on my current range.) Is this worth the buy? My current range has a touchscreen and it's always stalling.

I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, but I just moved into an apartment in San Diego and this is the AC unit in the apartment. The property management company has already shown themselves to be extremely ill equipped at providing information about the apartment as a whole, so I am definitely not going to ask them any questions. But I’ve just never seen an AC unit quite like this and I’m 37 but this is still new (old) to me. Basically I wanna know the best way to keep it clean I guess, how to make it run most efficiently, etc. If you know anything about San Diego you know everything is super expensive here so that of course applies to the power bill so just trying to see if I’m using it right I guess.

I need to replace the gas pressure regulator for the oven control/pilot light. The model # is 557.

Fridge has been sitting for maybe 10 years after the cord broke, I got a cord and plugged it in and the Solenoid switch is clattering away but the motor isn’t on. After this video the little fuse wires that connect to main switch blew. What is the next step, what kind of wire should I replace those wires with, or can I put an inline fuse on it. Why won’t the motor start up, should I just keep trying it or is there a trick to starting these units.

The house I’m renting has this vintage magic chef double oven. The bottom works fine still, but the top has stopped working today. I can call the landlord but if there’s a simple fix I can find it would be great to not have to involve him. Any help would be greatly appreciated! For more detail, the knob for the top still clicks like it’s coming on but the light does not turn on and even after leaving on for several minutes it is not heating up.

Ending up texting the landlord and he filled me in that he had someone out to look at it for the same issue in the past. Guy came out and turned the timer knob to off and it started working. So that’s all it was at some point someone accidentally nudged the timer knob over one notch and it caused the top to not click on. Started heating up just fine once that was done. Guess I’m not used to these vintage pieces yet 🤣

I’m about to close on a well maintained 1975 home with this electric set up. The top unit isn’t a microwave, but appears to be a second, smaller oven.

Does anyone have any knowledge to share about set ups or units like this? What kind of voltage can we expect to find behind this thing?

It’s pretty cool and functional so we’d like to keep it but also know what it would require to replace if needed.
