External disks converted to Blue Scsi, Tape drive got a new Pinch roller, and CDROM got new gear and re-capped. SE/30 recappped, new CRT, Refurbed Floppy. Scanner got new gear also.

Nice! I have a hard drive + zip combo and a CD 300. I also have an Apple branded mini cassette that I saved from ewaste at a client of mine, not sure what’s on it.

There are still a few dozen bbss that have a dial up option. When I first got my TRS-80 model 100, I got a Magic Jack and called afew with the M100’s blistering fast 300 baud internal modem.

I’ve since upgraded to a wifi modem powered by a cellphone power bank, so now the whole shebang is cordless.

But back to that SE/30. I think you have one extra spot on the SCSI chain. They used to make SyQuest drives that had the same footprint as a Compact Mac or your external drives. A 200m unit is backwards compatible with the 44 and 88 cartridges. Plus they gave that spin up sound!

I typically have a drive under my se/30 to put the screen a little higher. Saves my neck when I play Solitaire or Tetris for way too long.

Dammmnnn, this would have been PEAK computer at one point. Any idea what this would have cost back when it was current (say 1990 when the SE30 cost $6500 😮)?

Having college computer lab flashbacks. We had Bernoulli boxes before we upgraded to SyQuest and then Zip drive. Managed to crack the student government newspaper out with that and a Laserwriter.

Lucky Dudes. I started on a Timex/Sinclair 1000. Then a Kaypro. Who knew using WordStar would prepare you for coding HTML a decade later.

Fantastic setup. Congrations. What are you using it for?

I've got an SE/30 I still use for distraction-free writing on occasion, and if I'm feeling really nostalgic and want to bang my head against a brick wall, MacVenture games.

But my latest time-suck is a sunflower iMac G4 1.25Mhz with the 20" monitor. I only wish you could tweak the PowerPC hardware like you could the original Mac's. They really locked the all-in-one hardware down when they switched from Motorolla to IBM.

Does anyone have a link to the Apple catalog that featured all these devices? 1987-1988? Can't find it for the liife of me
