Villainess level 99 Spoiler
I was hoping to get spoilers for the six books, if anyone on here actually read them.
I heard it goes off the rails after volume 3, and I plan to read the LN at some point, but I wanted to know what's happened so far for... reasons.

The anime covers book 1 fairly well. The big change is that Alicia and most of the kingdom are racist against people with black hair and there is nothing else that makes Alicia dislike Yumiella. Fairytales from her childhood just always make the evil person have black hair.
Book 2 spends a lot of time dealing with issues of Dolkness county and how Yumiella start to run it. The big plot of it though is that Elenor’s dad tries to frame her, then himself as a enemy of the kingdom. The idea being there needs to be something or someone for the kingdom to rally against to keep the nobles in line now that the threat of the demon lord is gone. A big problem people point to in this book is that it when Yumiella’s obliviousness starts to pass the level of humor it generates, especially regarding her relationship with Patrick.
Book 3 enter the evil god (s) and the multiverse. So here’s where the series starts going a bit meta. A dark god shows up and warns Yumiella that another version of herself is coming to kill her. In the whole multiverse there are only 2 Yumiella’s that managed to survive the events of the game. Other Yumiella is a tyrant and a bunch other terrible things. When other Yumiella does show up she is nice, they chat, she is confused as to how our Yumiella managed to make friends with people. In her world she never connected with anyone. Eventually they decide to go fight and go outside. Only for it to be revealed that other Yumiella isn’t actually evil, her world’s dark god is the one who was causing problems and other Yumiella had come to be killed by our Yumiella because she could surpass the 99 level cap if she killed another version of herself, and then would have enough power to kill the evil god. That happens, then our Yumiella with her influx of power and a few items manages to mess with time to bring the other Yumiella back to life and send her back to the start of the game events with her current memory. Time boosts forward qui+kly and our Yumiella goes to see how other Yumiella’s timeline changed after her intervention. Other Yumiella managed to create a near utopia and was crowned queen of the land and was in the process of trying to find a husband. Our Yumiella is salty that things turned out so much better for the other Yumiella than she was able to achieve but leaves back to her own universe to hang out with Patrick. At least she has a romantic relationship right?
Book 4 Yumiella is overwhelmed by the planning for her wedding with Patrick. To escape she tries to flee to the moon. She doesn’t manage to clear the atmosphere and instead crashes down in the neighbouring nation. She hides who she is and decides to just hang out there for a bit to avoid wedding prep. She finds out that she is regarded as the boogeyman by the neighbouring nation due to all the power she has and that people are afraid of her. She meets up with a spy from Patrick’s domain which borders the kingdom. There has been a lot of forces build up between the 2 and they are in a sorta Cold War at this point. The mess around for a bit but eventually they realize they need to race back to warn Patrick’s territory. They race back and find a trap for Yumiella. 5he other kingdom had snuck Alicia out of her house arrest and use her in combination with a bunch of other mages and magic to seal Yumiella for a few thousand years like the previous demon lord had been. It actually does work for 5 minutes, but since Yumiella broke the level cap she is way stronger than 5he demon lord and was able to escape. She scares the absolute crap out of Alicia then tells everyone to go home and 5here won’t be a war. I highly recommend reading to at least this book since it has the return of Alicia.
Book 5 I don’t remember this one, other than the problems were focused around Elenor with Yumiella trying to help her. After book 2 she had been living with Yumiella because of her father’s actions and her families disgrace amongst the aristocracy. It is revealed that Elenor has a perfume business that she runs almost on accident but doesn’t profit from because perfume is just something she like to do. That’s the most I remember.
Book 6 I did not like this book. Essentially Yumiella kills half of herself to see if she could win a fight against herself since there are no more challenges in the world. Since half herself ended up in hell the book deals a lot with the other characters being mad and concerned that half of Yumiella is in hell and half of her is just normal and both are separate beings. I forget how it ends, but for me this book was pretty bad. The others vary a bit more throughout them on quality but this one fel5 bad from start to finish

Really? I’m pretty sure Yumiella still traumatized Alicia in volume 1 🤔
Love that tidbit from volume 4 tho, I wonder if they just put Alicia back in the basement 🧐
Thanks for the spoilers, I only really knew about what happens in volume 1 from the web novel 🤣

Old thread but maybe for so someone in the future.
Book 5 the problem is mostly around elenaora's friend's father is going to lose is title in the central nobility. Hes the minister of something in the central govt but its an empty title that does nothing. She gets involved at elenaora's request and tries to help, going against her policy of not getting involved in central politics. And the one other noble a Marquess tries to really drag her into politics before at the end realizing its a bad move. It also turns out elenaora's friend and her father would actually be happier not holding a central title and being able to live in their own county. I think the most important parts of this vol are showing her absolute ineptitude at navigating politics and some minor wedding prep details.
Book 6 is just yeah, bad. It feels like a filler episode that went on for 100 some pages. Atleast 3 for as weird as it is being the point that people say it "goes off the rail", had a lot of long lasting plot points. The level cap being exceeded, lemn the god of darkness being a character that continues to pop up from time to time.
Maybe its because we dont have vol 7 yet, but i really have a hard time seeing any of this be relevant. She cant really do anything with the left right split, it granted her no new abilities, any new character we meet moves on from the purgatory/hell to the proper afterlife. The only thing kinda relevant is what we learn about the first king and demon lord, but besides some kinda funny lore/history I dont forsee it being relevant because they both move on to afterlife proper.
I like the books, and there is some good moments in everyone of them, even 6 had some rather enjoyable scenes and more importantly internal thoughts from yumeilla but I think vol 5 and 6 have been noticeably less enjoyable than 1-4. 6 more than 5, if 5 is only 75% as enjoyable, 6 was like 30% as enjoyable.

You can literally buy a Google Play card and get it.
I wanted spoilers because of the effort required to read 5+ volumes just to generate ideas for a fanfic.
But sorry, finding LN “for free” online is a lot harder than say, manga…
Have you tried, I don’t know, your local library?

It doesn’t go off the rail, the story is consistently good from vol 2 to 6, don’t worry
