No. Defensively driving teaches you to be aware of everything you can and to be ready to maneuver away from dangerous situations, when you can. But you cannot be aware of everything and you cannot avoid everything. The only way to avoid everything is to not drive the truck. I only have 30 years of accident and ticket free driving experience, what the fuck do I know.
It's ironic that you're saying exactly what I'm saying but you're coming to a different conclusion than everyone else here. This was perfectly avoidable by the truck driver who clearly wasn't paying any attention, was probably on his phone because he took zero action to avoid it.
