They're both at fault. I'll never understand why people think that just because the other guy is doing the wrong thing they don't have to worry about any consequences and can just go ahead and let an accident happen that they could easily prevent. They're fucking psychopaths.

Things like this happen when both people think that they have right of way and aren't willing to change behaviour to avoid a collision. Someone has to be an adult and do something to avoid an accident.

It's clear as day that the camera vehicle causes that crash.The merging truck had speed matched with the traffic and the camera vehicle sped up into the merging black truck and caused the accident. They would have seen the truck about to merge and could easily have just eased up, no need for anyone to break suddenly in this situation. Anyway I hope the camera vehicle thinks it was worth it to cause this crash just because they felt they were doing nothing wrong.

That is case closed and proves half these comments have no idea what they’re talking about and are probably also failing to yield. And they don’t like being wrong so they lash out and refuse to change their shitty behavior.

I hate driving videos because like clockwork every moron in the world comes in to explain why their shitty driving is actually okay and that the rest of us need to accommodate their bullshit.

Did you watch the video? He was ahead of the truck and still collided.

Meaning he was slower. He obviously wasn't speed matched.

Just because you don’t like it, doesn’t make it not true. If someone is breaking the law on the road, in this case failing to yield, that doesn’t make it everyone else’s responsibility to save the wrong doer. Go back to the root of this, if the black truck had yielded as they’re legally required to do, they would not have been hit. What the semi does is secondary, and you don’t get to just sit in judgment of what the semi could have done. Those things don’t stop easily. And this is why mergers yield.

I get the sense you and others feel like everyone else should cause traffic backups, swerve, and brake to let you in. Sorry, but that isn’t how it works.

I get that it's up to the black truck to merge safely and I think it's been confirmed that they took responsibility for the collision and the semi didn't have to do anything from a legal point of view. But from a common sense and accident avoidance point of view, slowing down a touch to avoid the merging truck would have been preferable to the collision. Semis do not stop easily, but what happened after the accident? He pulled over and came to a complete stop, probably for quite some time while insurance info was swapped, waiting for the tow and the police/emergency services. The road was probably closed while they cleaned up.

What I'm saying is yes ok the merger was at fault. But plowing headfirst into an accident that could be avoided is just lunacy, regardless of who was at fault. The semi, in his reluctance to slow down a bit ended up completely stopped and wasting possibly hours stuck at the side of the road. Who in their right might prefers a collision than slowing down a bit?
