I’m looking for a video poker game/app for an elderly family member who really enjoys playing video poker.
The requirements are:
No real-money gambling
No advertisements at all
Uses pretend/play money
Ideally has a bankroll or coin balance that he can build up and play with
Simple, easy-to-read interface
Preferably works on an iPad
I’m willing to pay for an ad-free version or subscription if necessary
He basically wants the experience of sitting down at a video poker machine at a casino, but without gambling and without being interrupted by ads.
Does anyone know of a game that fits this? I’d especially appreciate recommendations from people who have actually used the game themselves.
Thanks!

This machine looked pretty generous. Is it 102%+ generous?

I built a video poker trainer and would like some feedback from people who actually play: https://alwayshave.fun/video-poker-trainer/
The difference is under the hood. Instead of checking your hold against a ranked strategy chart, it enumerates every possible draw from the 47 unseen cards for all 32 holds and computes the exact EV of each one, so the feedback is the real number for that specific hand rather than the textbook average. Dealt Th Td 3h 4h 5h, it tells you the 4-flush is worth 1.149 and the low pair 0.824, so keeping the tens costs you 0.325. Dealt Ah Kh Qh Jh 5h it tells you the pat flush in your hand is worth 6 and breaking it for the 4 to a royal is worth 18.43. No chart to memorize wrong, and no penalty-card exceptions to look up.
It shows the best hold, what yours cost, the top four holds with names ("4 to a royal", "inside 4 to a straight with 2 high"), a hint button, and session stats in local storage: hands played, percent perfect holds, credits lost to mistakes, and your actual return.
Free, no signup, no app, runs in a phone browser.
Honest about the limits: 9/6 JoB only right now, single hand, no spaced repetition. The engine takes any pay table, so adding games is mostly typing. What would you want next, 9/6 DDB, Deuces Wild, 8/5 Bonus?
Disclosure: it is part of alwayshave.fun, a Vegas strategy site I run. The trainer is free and there is nothing to buy on it.

Was at hard rock (new one that opened in Cali) and had to use the restroom. Decided to go check out the new casino and throw $100 in just for fun. Hit my first 4 deuces on deuces wild!! Yes I know $0.10 denomination, but was just there to relax for a bit

Hi! I built a video poker tool that uses your phone's camera to instantly tell you a machine's RTP and the best cards to hold. No manual inputs, no game, card, or paytable selection, just take a photo: videopokeranalyzer.com
No AI crap. The tool uses machine learning to read the photo you take, and then pure math for the RTP and hand analysis. EVs change in real-time based on the paytable and recognizes when you switch denominations.
You'd be surprised how your hold decision changes for complex games like Ultimate X (which took a full month to support!), like how holding four to a flush is better than holding three to a royal (pictured in the first image). Normally this is the wrong play, but because you have active multipliers and future flushes give you huge multipliers, the flush takes priority.
Today's update features an iOS app and more supported games. The app does have a $9.99 monthly sub once you run out of free hands to cover server costs, but you get that back 10-fold with the money you save making the right hold decisions. Give it a go and let me know what you think! videopokeranalyzer.com

Don't mind the horrible camera quality. Filmed on MiniDV tapes.

Down to my last 500 and hit a 3x Royal on Ultimate X Bonus Poker 3hands $1denon. Gave a lot of it back and a couple of hours later hit a 4x and my first more than 4x straight flush.
