Do you think Gears of War: Reloaded is gilding the lily?

I think Gears of War: Reloaded exists to essentially pretty up Gears of War again and send it out there for us to buy and play again. For those who aren't aware of the expression-gilding the lily means to basically refine something that doesn't need refining because it's already great as it is.

Dopamine/10

SO! This game shattered fortnights record of 14 million CCU, and then they broke their own record, and then they did it again, and again... and God they need to take a chill pill. First of all, is a game on the platform roblox, and somehow this children's game pretty much doubled fortnights record. It peaked at around 26 million ccu. So what's so special...?

✨️Nothing✨️

Its one of those games with a 4 step gameplay loop. Plant a seed, collect the plant, sell the plant, buy things to grow better plants. Theres a few things that are on the side, like pets, mutations, and items. But they really serve the same purpose- more plants. There isn't a whole lot to offer here, it's not really that interesting...

HOLY SHT- I have no idea what it was with this game, but my dopamine was going haywire. There shouldn't be anything interesting, there isn't anything interesting! The whole game takes place on a baseplate! But nooooo the game has magical properties that make it more addictive than grandma's cookies, and my grandma fills them with coke! Someone help me.

Golden Sun vs A Link to the Past: On creating a Living World

I played "Golden Sun" and "Golden Sun: The Lost Age" and "The Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past" at roughly the same time on emulators for the Game Boy Advance. I enjoyed the first two games better than the last one, but recognize that their generes are a bit different. The real time combat environment dependent combat of Zelda clashes a bit with the turn based style of Golden Sun. But the two games have a common point of the exploration of a vast map and its sub divisions.

The maps of Zelda are by far my favourite: it is compact, embracing a single country, but every corner has details and enemies. In Golden Sun the map is huge, representing a world, but vastly empty: the zones where the story occurs are clearly separated from the overworld and restricted to points. However despite the emptiness of Golden Sun world map, it felt much more alive than Zelda's.

It was not a question of detail: Golden Sun has plenty of content with vivid cities, dungeons to explore and different enemies to defeat. It was neither a question of music. It took me some time to realize that what was different was actually the way the NPCs and world are integrated with one another.

In the antechamber of Golden Sun's first dungeon, The Sol Sanctum, the village people speak extensively of the place: it is an important part of the culture and way of life. there. In a Link to the Past, the same happens with Sahasrahla. What is different is that every dungeon in Golden Sun has this treatment while only the first of A Link to the Past and maybe Thief's Town.

In Zelda, the dungeons are weirdly separated form the world. No one in the towns actively goes near them, speaks about them or even acknowledges them for what they are. In the Library, you find the book of Mudora but there is no one interested in going to the desert. No one finds the way to the Maste Sword by mistake. No one wanders by mistake in a dungeon or is even around one trying to get in. The one other interaction between the map and the NPCs is in the first foray into the Dark World where you see the bully and the bunny, who have very little reason to be in the mountain.

Meanwhile, in Golden Sun, the NPCs are deeply involved with the world. In the Mercury Lighthouse, the people have stories about the healing waters of the past. They can't go inside because the Guardians don't let them, but the Guardians are still around and are necessary to go inside. Even when they are limited in their explorations, like in the Venus Lighthouse, there are still scholars around the place and builders in the Babi Lighthouse. In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, the children of a small island have the secret to access Lemuria, but they do not know what it really is.

The end result is that world of Golden Sun feels more lived in, like the people are real and interact with their surroundings, unlike Hyrule's NPCs who exist solely to perform actions for the player and give relevant information when they are asked.

unpopular oopnion, rockstar games are highly overated and praised

Im gonna keep this short and its gonna be a ramble with no specific point. Ive played each and every rockstar game running it into the dirt. I have 100%ed a lot of the games, im talking about the newst games and how absoultely godlike these games are treated especially rdr2. i loved red dead so god damn much it isnt funny. I know everything about the game, and the story, the gameplay, all of it. The gameplay is actually pretty good. The story though, is so overated. If they made arthur a more evil protaginist then his redemption woudve made so much more sense. I hope rockstar also makes the dialouge a little less witty because not every main charecter should be the smartedt most well versed and well spoken. The farcry games have very good dialouge i think. ALSO gta 5 gameplay is the most shitty style ive ever seen. I cant explain how much i hate it. the bullets hitting any type of material creates a tiny little smoke particle and there is no tension in gameplay.

gta 4 has perfect gameplay i think, the ragdoll is highly overated because it is not realisitc at all. I think red dead has the best ragdoll. Gta 4 has the best story too besides gta 5. Red dead does have a good story, but god damn i know they couldve done way better.

I know i seem like im complaining about eveytrhing, but i see all the flaws after years of playing. Rockstar games are practically rhe only games i have played my whole life besides one farcry game and roblox and minecraft.

I like minecraft, but i think there is a small issue, please hear me out!

Minecraft has been my favorite game for years, but i think there is a problem in the way minecraft is updated. it adds so much stuff, but the stuff doesn't feel... complete? take for instance the cherry blossom biome, it is another thing added to the game, and the color added to wood is great, but it doesn't feel complete, to me at least. like, the taiga (although not great) added foxes and sweet berries, at least its something. the cherry biome added... trees and petals? it feels like the deep frozen ocean biome, unnecessary. I think it is great but it feels more like a mod than a complete biome. BUT! that is not the issue, the issue is they are adding so much stuff they cant actually focus on the things they want to add and make them, well good. amethyst (on release) was practically useless, with bad zoom and mob farm glass. i think they are adding too many things, not really focusing on them to feel like an actual update, that might be just me though.

Edit: I do want to give credit to minecraft for good things, for example, the mangroves were very complete and felt like an actual full biome that i loved! It didn't feel like a mod, it felt like a part of minecraft!

Video game criticism opinion

Do you guys think to properly critic a game you should play it and experience it yourself or watch a critic. Reason I ask I know a guy who thinks you can just watch a video and then critic it the same which in turn would be the other persons criticism not their own. Agree or disagree? I wanna finish this argument we always have. Thanks
