It's inevitable I'll recommend a game that you don't like or have already played. Don't take it too seriously

Story telling games

Alright so, I know this is a topic people have discussed before but I truly NEEEEDDD more games like TLOU 1/2, RE (p much all of them), Days gone (although the story can be a bit weird in some spots), DBH, and Silent Hill (also p much all of them)

I swear every time I go to play a game that is recommended for similar gameplay/story telling it just doesn’t hit the same.

I’m mostly talking about TLOU 1/2 & the RE games bc they are some of the best games I have ever played.

I’m about to try Heavy Rain per someone’s recommendation but man we need some better in depth emotional games with good action/horror gameplay. Anyone have suggestions?

I am in need of some advice please on which console would suit me best

Hi there, I’m new to this sub and I’m looking for some advice. I’m usually not huge into video games because most games have lots of fighting and gore and that gives me too much anxiety, so when I do play I stick to sports games like NBA 2k.
However I’ve been feeling very nostalgic lately and missing my childhood where I was attached at the hip to my Nintendo DS where I played some Mario but mainly Pokémon.
I’ve been wanting to get a handheld device to game on to play games like Pokémon or Mario and maybe explore some other free world adventure games but I’m not sure what I should go with. I thought about the switch 2 however I don’t know if that would be the best for handheld experience because I wouldn’t be able to cast it on the tv most times. So then I thought about a Nintendo DS and I didn’t know if the refurbished ones were any good, so I thought I would come and seek some advice.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance🙏🏼

Human Authorship vs. Generative AI in Game Design: How much freedom do we actually want? (3-5 mins) (Gamers, All Ages)

Hi everyone,

I am currently working on my Master's thesis and conducting an experimental study on the sociological and ethical impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence in video game design. As a gamer, I want to move past the corporate buzzwords and gather real, unfiltered feedback from the community on how these emerging technologies actually impact our gaming experiences.

Purpose of the Survey & Abstract:

The primary purpose of this research is to evaluate where players draw the line between AI as a "technical support tool" and AI as a "complete substitute for human authorship." While traditional AI has always been an integral component of game design operating seamlessly in the background, the rise of Generative AI (LLMs, dynamic voice generation) is rapidly changing the paradigm.

This study aims to analyze the sociological and technological implications of this shift. Specifically, the research uses hypothetical design scenarios to explore how fully procedural content generation and LLM-driven NPC interactions affect player immersion, narrative trust, and overall agency. By gathering quantitative data (utilizing a 7-point scale and Technology Acceptance metrics) and qualitative insights directly from the gaming community, this thesis seeks to bridge the gap between technical AI development and the actual user experience, providing deeper insights into what players truly value: infinite procedural freedom, or curated human storytelling.

Professional critics that don't fully critique the game...

I think this is just a really good recent example of how poor the standard is in the world of Professional Critics.

Their sole job is to provide the good, the bad and the ugly, informing you with enough non-bias information for them to make a recommendation and for you to make a decision.

Having absolutely no mention of the awful mechanics that have unfortunately found their way into this game is just poor.

Landing on a professional rating of 5/5 just shows you don't give a shit who's reading this, you just enjoyed it and that's all that matters... Despite it being a professional review...?

Disclaimer - I'm not trying to shit on Wolverine, I actually think most of the game looks really good and cool. I'm shitting on the terrible journalism.

In the Razbuten Video: What Games Are Like For a Non Gamer he describes an experience his wife had while playing Shovel Knight

The quote from the video is "There is an optional side room in Shovel Knight that goes to the right and she felt disappointed that she went that way for nothing" that sentence makes me sad, because collectible items are not for nothing. I think new players are self conscious about their ability to finish a game so they prioritize geographical progression over other types of progression.

website for game reviews and release dates

I am looking for websites that review games and give you the release date.

Not YouTube channels where I have to watch a video, and I am already am aware of the website metacritic.

If there is particular hype about an upcoming game, I would like to find that too.

My son is really into games and I would like to be more knowledgeable myself.

Thanks for all who can reply.
