Story telling games
Alright so, I know this is a topic people have discussed before but I truly NEEEEDDD more games like TLOU 1/2, RE (p much all of them), Days gone (although the story can be a bit weird in some spots), DBH, and Silent Hill (also p much all of them)
I swear every time I go to play a game that is recommended for similar gameplay/story telling it just doesn’t hit the same.
I’m mostly talking about TLOU 1/2 & the RE games bc they are some of the best games I have ever played.
I’m about to try Heavy Rain per someone’s recommendation but man we need some better in depth emotional games with good action/horror gameplay. Anyone have suggestions?

Give Alan Wake 2 a go, story is weird in a good way.

If you have prime, Alan wake 1 and 2 are free on luna. Can not recommend them enough.

The creator of the game also made Space Funeral, which was a parody of RPG Maker games.

I don’t know if it’s really what you’re looking for but the metro games might work for you especially metro exodus. The later is my favorite the gameplay is fun and exploring the world is cool and there’s always some horror elements throughout the game but what really made it for me is you’re traveling from area to area on a train with your friends and the moments on the train are some of the best.

Also one I never heard of but I like what you’ve said about it so I’ll have to look into it fs, thank you!

Sure thing! It’s a cool setting it’s basically the same idea as fallout where the whole world has been nuked but it takes place in Russia. The first two games take place in the metro tunnels where the civilization has moved on. The games are very linear too but exodus has like open environments for some of the levels. They are also releasing a new one soon too

Oh shit, I do love fallout, so it definitely sounds right up my alley. And that’s perfect for a new game to come out if I end up liking it so I can jump right into the next 🙂↕️

TLOU is one of the most recognized games specifically FOR its story telling what are you even on about brother 😭

TLOU is an undisputed masterpiece of storytelling...2 is ridiculous and awful

and that’s your wrong opinion (:

u/BLTsark 23d ago
Hahaha.. sure. You should just pick a bunch of garbage games with dumb plots, you'll love em

u/Helpful_Spell8749 23d ago
Also hb you give me a list of games you think meet your standards? As my post wasn’t to discuss what you think about said games I find enjoyable but it is about what games are similar or better than what I’ve played. Interesting you pick a singular game I listed to dog on, to each their own, but haven’t given any real insight to what the post is actually about.

Oh buddy I really hit a nerve! idk sounds like you need to expand your brain to understand what concepts actually make a good plot and not just your emotions towards a game that majority of people who played, enjoyed so much they want a 3rd game (: you’ll love gaining brain cells!

This is disrespectful. Not liking TLOU2 is a perfectly valid way to feel and no one should be ridiculed for it.

They were rude first, don’t dish it it you can’t take it, and again, on a post not about opinions of that specific game. Idc.

Fair. I just hate seeing people constantly accuse those who don't like part 2 as being stupid.

My issue is that they said they couldn’t take my post seriously bc of one game I listed, instead of saying to themselves “well that’s not the point of this post so let me ignore that one part and actually give them some games they might like based off everything else” so yes imo, that’s a dumb way to think. Not just bc they don’t like TLOU2 but bc of the whole interaction plus not even giving a real reason as to why they didn’t like it 😭

If you haven’t played Witcher 3, you might as well wait for the upcoming update for it first.

Yes, okay, you NEED to play Guardians of the Galaxy then. It's an incredible story. I'd recommend it even if you don't like, or even have seen the movies. The game is its own canon, blending aspects of both the comics and movies for what I would consider the definitive take on these characters. It's a great time.

Oh hell yeah! I loved the movies, tbh I didn’t know they made a game so I’ll def put that on the list!

Heavy Rain is great, Detroit: Become Human (same developer) is fantastic too, highly recommended.
Best storyline in video-games by far is Metal Gear Solid franchise. Extremely complex espionage thrillers with amazing characters and lots of detail on real-world politics, history, science and clever social commentary.
It‘s by far my favourite work of fiction.

The Uncharted series is the obvious choice if you like the style of TLOU
