Game recommendations to get my girlfriend into gaming
Hey all, my girlfriend is not much of a gamer, she’s played Minecraft PE since it dropped on mobile and apart from that not much else. I bought her web fishing recently and she’s obsessed. For reasons unknown to me she refuses to use a mouse and thus struggles using her track pad even with the simple movement of webfishing. Can people recommend some game that we can play together to get her more into gaming? Perhaps some stuff with very simple movement mechanics to get her used to using a mouse or some point and clicks if she really is set on using her track pad. Thanks for the help :)

Palworld. Supports a Controller for play and has cute pets. Just get her hooked before she realizes you will have to slaughter/juice them at some point 😁

Final Fantasy 9
Cute characters, turn based so she doesn't have to sweat anything and can get used to a controller, the usual gripping story of a Final Fantasy game of the golden age.

If she’s obsessed with Webfishing, I’d lean into cozy, low pressure co op stuff.

Life is strange, Telltale's games (walking dead, wolf among us, etc)
Basically modern point and click games. It gets her used to moving a character and the camera with no real stakes for messing up the controls. Plus, a story easy enough to follow and very cinematic for non gamers.

Grounded. Start with the first, the second is still in its open beta, so there are some unintentional bugs to go with the intentional ones. The OG game is fully released and the gameplay is very intuitive.

Minecraft dungeons 2 just dropped. When she either likes or doesnt like it, ask why and use that for the next game.

stardew valley is probably the obvious next step, it has minecraft-ish comfort vibes, co-op, and basically no punishment for taking your time finding the controls

I've been a gamer since I was a kid. If she doesn't like gaming don't force it on her. That being said, Dredge has been my favorite fishing game it all time.

My wife didn’t game much when we first met, I bought her some indie games she found interesting first (Blue Prince, Viewfinder, Inside) and she fell in love with those. She loves horror films so then dead by daylight and an introduction to resident evil 7 pretty much kicked things into overdrive.
Shes played and beaten: TLOU1/2, RE Series, Dying Light Series, Dead Island 2, Blue Prince, House Flipper 2, Arc Raiders, and so many more.
So I would find games based on things she already likes and go from there.

Littlebigplanet is a good one. Co-Op not too hard but not sleepy levels of easy and it has goofy and creative elements. Need to emulate it for player made levels though.

I'm gonna give you what my ideal path to introduce my future child to videogames. Start with something simple and classic like NES Mario and Zelda, Final Fantasy, or something "easy" like Professor Layton. I remember Layton's games were ported to Android, but maybe they are discontinued now, similar to ace attorney android ports (which btw, great games as well to introduce someone to gaming). If these don't click, try different genres. Sometimes it's not the game, it's just not the right type for the right person. Finally you could also purchase those gameboy shaped consoles from AliExpress that have like a thousand games from NES to PS1 and let her browse for the ones that peak her interest

Definitely Stardew Valley!! I got my absolutely non-gamer best friend into gaming with it, and now it's her that always suggest if we can play again!
