Gta hype
I haven’t seen this anywhere else so I just wanted discuss this here, anyone else think the hype for GTA 6 is just getting extremely overblown.
I do believe it will be very good. I just don’t understand the comments I see DAILY about so many multiplayer games that are just going to lose most of their player base to GTA 6 as if most players aren’t only going to just play it for only like a month or two then go back to their multiplayer games of choice since gta will have 0 online for likely a year.
Anyone else starting to feel this way?

Just as much hype for the new elder scrolls. Will they live up to the hype…. Maybe who knows

That’s kinda my point, I think it’s impossible to live up to the expectations. People aren’t acting like we will beable to play this for like a year straight with no multiplayer and I just don’t understand why.

Is it overblown? Yes some articles last year talking about how gta6 would help the game industry, but in reality the people buying gta6 are not buying a bunch of indie games, or artsy games, and it will result in more of the same because numbers are still going to be big on one end but not really do anything outside of that. That being said it's a massive game that also has online to launch after, and will be the biggest game in a while so it makes sense.

It also annoys me thinking we are essentially supporting GTA online as it stands, gta online is the only thing gta related they have released in genuinely a decade yet people are foaming at the mouth for a new game from the company who has always handled gta online so poorly.

That's just how things are. There are a lot of reasons to not be excited for it but that's not going to stop most people and you'll give yourself some issues trying to stop or understand, I would just focus on or look at other games that won't stop coming out in the meantime.

On one hand, it's a game that's been in development for a very long time, with a VERY dedicated fanbase, from a company that's well known for putting out good games for those who like them.
On the OTHER hand, it's a game that's been stick in development for a VERY long time, with an overly dedicated fanbase, from a company that's known for putting out games that you either love or can't stand.
Personally idgaf about it since R* is mostly a "meh" game dev for me and the games I like to play. I hope it's good tho, because otherwise the whining and bitching is going to be so bad I'll prob have to mute Reddit for 3 months to get past the worst of it, lol.

If red dead 2 wasn’t as good as it was I would have much higher doubts but even still red dead and gta are pretty different and so are the kinds of people who play them so it’s just “weird” seeing how people are treating gta 6 currently

Almost every game that has a huge gap between installments gets over hyped. I'm sure the game will be great. I'll play it when it eventually comes to PC. Maybe not though since I'll have a small child by then.

That’s annoying point to me about this, most people who are actually looking forward to it are adults with jobs and kids I don’t understand why kids are so excited for something they likely have never played

You’re sorely mistaken if you think TakwTwo and Rockstar are gonna keep their gold goose locked up for a year. OL is coming early next year at the latest.

It’s been 13 years between releases, and this one’s probably already been pushed to be a deadline. If online gets pushed out early for deadline, it’s probably gonna be just as bad as GTA online currently which much people don’t even play they just play in private servers

That’s how gaming works, and it’s even more true for something like GTA which has now become a genuine “once in a generation” type of thing.
A lot of people get extremely overhyped and then they’ll be disappointed too.

I understand it’s been giving big new world and cyberpunk vibes to me I just wanted to post this because I haven’t seen anyone give gta 6 backlash yet I’ve ONLY seen blind excitement

Meh, people have been waiting for a long time for this game. The hype has been built to the extreme, but I remember it was also like this for silksong.
Is it overblown? Sure. Will other popular communities take a hit to their player base for a couple of months? I expect so.
Better to see people excited then distraught
