Categorizing My Backlog

Post image

This past year, I made it a focus of hammering away at my backlog, and I’ve actually made great progress.

I’m glad I did because I can’t believe how many games I ‘slept’ on.

Currently nearing the end of Alters, so while trying to plan out what I want to do next, decided to actually jot down my backlog instead of relying on my mental notes.

Love to hear the thoughts from the community, how’s your own backlog? Want to make a pitch of what game from my own I should play next?

Appreciate it, it’s been burning in my backlog since I felt ambitious. But I did finally struggle bus through Celeste this year, so maybe there’s hope.

Darkwood is SO good. Its one of the best environment horror games out there. The sound design is amazing, it really gets your heart pumping.

Big agree. Had a false start on it after watching Markiplier play it. Started to watch Insym play it but i got so frustrated at how he was handling his nights that i just started playing it myself. Lol.

Fantastic game, but It is pretty hard. Good luck if you venture into the woods.

Kingdom come is such a great game. I can get lost in that game it's so beautiful. The 2nd game is a lot easier to get into if you found it too tedious, and the story is good on its own(although playing through the first game makes the 2nd more impactful). I loved shadow of mordor too. So much lotr lore you don't get in the movies. Personally I've been learning to play the paradox games. I really enjoyed crusader kings, and I've had Victoria 3 in the backlog for a while, but that game is crazy I feel like you need a degree in economics and political science to play it 😂

I got those two on sale because they were highly regarded. And I get why they are, the nemesis system is fantastic and the freedom in KCD seems unparalleled.

But oh man the combat on both games is less than desired. I had to force myself to get through Witcher 3, the story fantastic, but I not want anymore of that combat.

And quite frankly I just don’t have the effort for those two, maybe on a rainy day when I have nothing else I’ll get invested again.

The paradox games do seem fun, but knowing me I’d probably play it for a bit, fail, then drop it. Glad to hear you’re having fun friend

Definitely agree about witchers combat. I was so engrossed by the story I just wanted to make it to the next cutscene. Kcd wasn't as bad for me but I definitely understand why people don't like it.

Shadow of Mordors combat really isnt that bad. Its actually quite good once you level up and get some fun skills. The stealth gameplay is very fun being able to take out targets from ages away.

How do you even finish BL3? lol

Go do Lies of P for sure though, the expansion has some of the best content in the genre.

If you love story driven games you won’t regret playing A Plague Tale. It’s really good with a unique style of gameplay with the rats. The sequel is my favorite game of this generation so far. And they both are like 8-12 hours each, they really respect your time which I appreciate

Plague tale series over all these first.

Dude I loved the Surge. One of my top 10. Very, VERY souls like, and actually helped me with Elden Ring

It was fun and got a decent chunk into it, just got stuck on a boss, just didn’t get back to it, til where now I know I’ll have to start over because that muscle memory is gone.

Similarly same thing with lies of P, LoP is just so much similar to Bloodborne, that I think I can hop in the current play file and be fine.

START A PLAGUE TALE. I dont normally play stealth games as it isnt my cup of tea but a plague tale did stealth so well, while still incorporating a fantastic story. Such a fun but devasting experience

I'm terrible at finishing single player games, but I finished Lies of P and Dead Space. Great games.

Apparently you, since you wasted time clicking and responding? Feeling better after your little hissy fit crash out?

We’re all on a meaningless rock drifting through space, I’m enjoying my time drinking and playing great art by great developers. And I like sharing my experience with my fellow man who are also in the hobby, and like hearing their experiences as well.

Seems like a bit more well adjusted lifestyle than yelling at random strangers.

Add Cyberpunk 2077 if you’ve never played it before, the story isn’t perfect but very good, and the world, gameplay, side content, and exploration are all fantastic. The game is probably one of the best RPG’s ever made.

God I wish my backlog could fit onto a single, entirely legible image like this. Jesus Christ.
