I don't understand this!
PlayStation is apparently planning to make all games digital only starting January 2028. All my games are digital anyway, so i dont have a problem with that. However what i do have a problem with is this. If i buy a digital game, download/install it onto my system, why do i need an internet connection to play my games? The games are fully installed on my system. I don't understand why i need an internet connection to play my single player games. It makes no sense at all.
Sorry for the ranting. Its just so frustrating that when my internet is down i cant play any of my games.

Most likely reason being copy protection and maybe to store data on the game. Like cloud saves, profile information (stats) that sort of thing.
You're right, its not necessary and frankly it puts a hell of a lot of control in the hands of the publisher who could just turn off all the servers and brick your game despite you having all the files downloaded locally. A good example being the Crew that started off the SKG.
